Machine Operator/Labourer

Now, you might be wondering, "What's the deal with reinforcing steel (also known as rebar)?". In a nutshell, rebar is like the backbones of a building. It’s a key ingredient that gives strength to concrete so that it doesn’t crack, ensuring buildings and infrastructure remain strong and stable for years to come.

Here’s what you need to know about the role:

• Full-time, permanent position;
• Day shift, Monday to Thursday (7:00am - 4:30pm) and Friday (7:00am - 3:00 pm)
• Starting salary at $22.50$/h (after 500 hours: 24$/h / after 2000 hours: 26$/h / after 4000$/h: 27$/h / after 6000 hours: 28.50$/h)

Main Responsibilities:

• Operate overhead cranes, bar benders, and shear machines (training provided);
• Read and follow bar lists to fabricate rebar according to specific specifications;
• Assist equipment operators with material handling;
• Affix identification tags to fabricated rebar bundles;
• Support with additional assigned tasks as required;
• Act in compliance with AGF’s Health & Safety policies following the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Other duties as assigned.

General Skills

About You: The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience.

• 1-2 years of experience in a similar role in manufacturing;
• Experience operating an overhead crane (an asset);
• Basic math and measurement skills (an asset);
• Ability to learn various types of manufacturing equipment;
• Ability to perform physical tasks – lift/move up to 50 lbs;
• Willingness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and perform physical labor;
• Strong multitasking skills and capacity for teamwork.
