In March 2024, AGF Colombia, in partnership with Ferralia, launched a project for the pre-assembly of piles for the foundations of the first line of the Bogotá metro. This initial contract covers 7,000 metric tons of reinforcing steel – with the possibility of doubling this volume, paving the way for work to continue in 2025.
Construction of the metro is particularly demanding, as Line 1 is located in a densely populated urban environment. The main challenge is to operate efficiently in an extremely confined space.
To meet this challenge, two teams are mobilized. The first, made up of 65 workers, concentrates on manual pre-assembly of the piles. At the same time, the use of a semi-industrial machine speeds up the production process.
A second metro line, this time underground, is scheduled for completion in 2025. AGF hopes to be selected for its expertise for that one as well.
In this way, AGF Colombia is demonstrating its ability to adapt to projects on an international scale, while meeting major technical and logistical challenges. This collaboration with Ferralia also illustrates the company’s commitment to playing a key role in transport infrastructure in Latin America.
