AGF Rebar proudly brings its reinforcing steel expertise to the renewable energy sector by participating in the Forty Mile Wind Farm project in partnership with Nelson Industrial. This project, located about 6 kilometers east of Bow Island, Alberta, aims to install 49 wind turbines, generating a total energy capacity of 400 MW.
Technical Details of the Project
The first phase of this project demands a total of 3,500 metric tons of rebar, mainly consisting of grade 500W reinforcing steel bars. Each wind turbine foundation requires approximately 70 metric tons of rebar.
Project Timeline
Phase 1
Initially planned for spring, the commencement of phase 1 was delayed until early June 2024 due to unfavorable weather conditions, including cold temperatures and rain, necessitating a revised work schedule. Despite a particularly hot July, our on-site team adapted and maintained effective progress. Completion of phase 1 is anticipated by the end of August 2024.
Phase 2
AGF Rebar has also been selected to complete the drawings for the second phase of the project. The construction is scheduled for 2025.
