Acier AGF team in Longueuil is very proud to be working with the Groupe Nouveau Pont de l’Île-aux-Tourtes consortium (Dragados Canada Inc., Roxboro Excavation Inc. et Construction Demathieu & Bard) on the major project to rebuild the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge linking Montreal (via the municipality of Senneville) to Vaudreuil-Dorion.
Project Objectives
The Île-aux-Tourtes bridge reconstruction project has a number of strategic objectives. In addition to ensuring the mobility of people and goods between the island of Montreal and the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region, it aims to promote active and public modes of transportation, enhance the infrastructure, ensure its integration into the landscape and preserve the integrity of the surrounding environment.
Towards New Mobility
The new bridge will offer three traffic lanes in each direction. A multi-use path will also be built to provide a safe space for active transport users. Wide shoulders will be built for the exclusive use of buses.
AGF’s Involvement in the Project and Milestones
AGF is already working on several prefabricated elements.
In all, some 10,000 metric tons of reinforcing steel will be installed, including some 250,000 sleeves and 233 box piles, by the end of 2025.
Commissioning of the first structure is scheduled for late 2026, and the second structure for late 2027. The multi-purpose runway is scheduled to open at the end of 2028. Deconstruction of the existing bridge will be completed in 2029, and the work will be completed in 2030.
Project Challenges
The project has no shortage of challenges! Thanks to our equipment and the expertise of all the AGF workers involved (over 50), we plan to carry out a large part of the project by prefabrication in our plants. This practice means less time spent working directly on site, and promises greater safety for our workers.

A big well done to all our teams, on site, in our shops or in the offices, who make such a great project possible!
