We recently bid a fond, bittersweet farewell to our friend and coworker Neil Stairs, who spent more than 42 years with AGF Steel Inc.  Devoting countless hours to our company’s success, he was a solo act in the Estimating department for more than 20 of those years, which he pulled off without a hitch.<\/p>\n

To honour Neil and his dedication, we planned a surprise retirement party at a golf course where he was a member and where he likes to spend his leisure time. The location had to be such that it would not arouse his suspicion, as he is very detail-oriented and would have known something was up. His wife, Lorraine, helped get him there without any questions. When Neil walked in, his shocked and delighted facial expression said it all.<\/p>\n

He had mentioned to his wife that he was wondering why he had never heard back from Serge. Serge, along with Mark Clarke, Sylvain Vaillancourt, Pierre Lefebvre and Andre Morin, travelled from Montreal to attend the party, and Neil was honoured to see them, along with his old boss Richard Raymond, who founded Raymond Steel before it joined AGF, and all his valued coworkers. What an amazing evening!<\/p>\n

Genuine, hardworking and articulate, Neil is a devoted husband and father and actively involved grandfather, He has worked very hard and deserves relaxation time. He loves to golf, work on craft trains and boats, enjoying a cup of freshly ground Starbucks Pike Place Roast coffee in the gondola he built in his backyard. He also loves spending time with his three grandchildren and attending their sports games. Now, he will have the time to do all that and more!<\/p>\n

Happy retirement, Neil! We will miss you immensely and are grateful for all the hard work you invested in making this company a great success!<\/p>\n

Es con gran honor y amargura que despedimos a nuestro amigo y colega Neil Stairs, quien formó parte de AGF Steel Inc. durante 42 años, 4 meses, dedicando horas infinitas para que nuestra compañía tuviese éxito. Estuvo por su cuenta en el Departamento de Estimaciones durante más de veinte años y lo logró sin ninguna complicación.<\/p>\n

Para honrarlo a él y a su dedicación, planeamos una fiesta sorpresa para su jubilación en un campo de golf del cual es miembro y al que va en su tiempo libre. La ubicación tenía que ser en algún lugar que no fuera muy sospechoso ya que es una persona que se fija mucho en los detalles y se daría cuenta si había algo raro. Como su esposa Lorraine nos ayudó, tenía que llevarlo a la ubicación sin que él preguntara nada. Neil entró y su cara lo dijo todo: estaba realmente sorprendido y feliz.<\/p>\n

Neil le había comentado a su esposa que no sabía nada de Serge y se preguntaba por qué. Serge, junto con Mark Clarke, Sylvain Vaillancourt, Pierre Lefebvre y André Morin fueron al evento desde Montreal y Neil se sintió honrado de verlos junto con su antiguo jefe Richard Raymond, quien comenzó Raymond Steel antes de que se uniera a AGF, y con todos sus queridos compañeros. ¡Qué impresionante noche!<\/p>\n

Neil es un hombre trabajador, auténtico, de habla educada, maravilloso esposo, padre y abuelo muy presente. Ha trabajado arduamente y merece tiempo para relajarse. Le encanta el golf, armar trenes y barcos, disfruta tomar su café recién molido de Starbucks Pike Place Roast en la góndola que construyó en su patio trasero y le encanta estar presente en todos los juegos deportivos de sus tres nietos. ¡Ahora tendrá tiempo para hacer eso y más!<\/p>\n

¡Feliz jubilación Neil! ¡Te extrañaremos inmensamente y nos sentimos muy agradecidos por todo el trabajo que hiciste para que esta empresa tuviera tanto éxito!<\/p>\n
