Today, I’d like to tell you about Patrick Farley, our technical and post-tensioning director, who works at AGF Group’s head office in Longueuil. When I first joined AGF more than three years ago, Patrick greeted me with a smile and welcomed me to AGF Group. I was intrigued by his manner: he asks questions, engages his employees in discussions and constantly encourages them to excel. He communicates his expectations and encourages other managers to set goals and surpass them. Since I come from an Irish family, where traditions are handed down from generation to generation, I initially thought he was being nice to me because he too has Irish roots. When I put this question to him, he said this wasn’t the reason, but rather, his desire to work with people. In addition to his duties as technical director responsible for post-tensioning in AGF Group, Patrick is also a project coordinator and has overseen many of the Group’s major projects, including those in Canaport, New Brunswick, and Muskrat Falls, Newfoundland and Labrador, repairs to the Jacques Cartier Bridge and construction of the University of Montreal Health Centre (CHUM) in Montreal. I got a first-hand look at his leadership and close involvement in health and safety when I visited Muskrat Falls, where he developed a specific,  personalized program for the site. He also played a key role in our company obtaining COR accreditation from the Newfoundland Construction Safety Association. This industry-awarded certificate of recognition in health and safety sets us apart from other companies.<\/p>\n

Through the involvement and dedication of managers such as Patrick, we can foster a culture of health and safety within the Group.<\/p>\n

If you run into Patrick in the corridor, you can speak to him in English, French or Spanish. As for Gaelic, that’s another story! Patrick has worked in the group as an engineer for 15 years, and we wish him many more!<\/p>\n

¿Quién es Patrick Farley?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Hoy, quisiera hablarles de Patrick Farley, Director técnico y Responsable del postensado, quien trabaja en la sede social del Grupo AGF, en Longueuil. Para empezar, cuando empecé a trabajar en AGF hace más de tres años, Patrick vino a verme y me dio la bienvenida al Grupo AGF con una sonrisa. Me sentí intrigado por este administrador que pregunta, discute y motiva a todos, invitándolos constantemente a superarse. Comunica sus expectativas e incita a los demás administradores a fijarse objetivos y a superarlos. Como vengo de una familia de origen irlandés, cuyas tradiciones pasan de generación en generación, primero pensé que era simpático conmigo porque él también es de origen irlandés. Quise confirmarlo y constaté que esa no era la razón, ¡sino su deseo de trabajar con la gente! Además de ser director técnico y responsable del postensado en el Grupo AGF, Patrick también es supervisor de proyectos y ha sido el responsable principal de varios proyectos de gran envergadura del Grupo, como Canaport en Nuevo Brunswick, Muskrat Falls en la provincia de Terranova y Labrador, y la reparación del puente Jacques-Cartier y el CHUM en Montreal. Pude apreciar su liderazgo y su gran implicación en la salud y seguridad durante mis visitas a la obra de Muskrat Falls. Así desarrollamos un programa de prevención específico y personalizado para la obra de Muskrat Falls. Además, contribuyó mucho a que recibiéramos la acreditación COR de la Asociación de la Seguridad en la Construcción de Labrador. Esta distinción nos otorga un reconocimiento de la industria de la construcción en salud y seguridad y nos distingue de las otras empresas.<\/p>\n

Es gracias a la implicación y a la dedicación de los administradores como él que podemos desarrollar una cultura de salud y seguridad en el seno del grupo.<\/p>\n

Si se cruza con Patrick en los pasillos, no olvide que se puede dirigir a él en francés, en inglés o en español. En cuanto al irlandés, ¡eso es otra historia!
