We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to host our first annual golf tournament.  It was a sunny, crisp morning on Saturday, September 24 when 54 golfers and 6 volunteers gathered on the greens of the Manderley on the Green in North Gower to raise money for the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). A total of $8,100.00 was raised through player’s fees, dinners, contests, a 50\/50 draw and hole sponsorships with $500.00 of this given to us by the AGF Group Foundation.  The players had 18 holes to conquer with various challenges along the way which included a chipping contest, a beat the pro competition, a longest drive and a closest to the pin challenge. The course ended with a putting contest using clubs made from various reinforcing products made by our own Jean Fortin who also constructed a box covered with wire mesh for our chipping competition. What a clever way to show case our products to our clients!<\/p>\n

It was an amazing day spent with amazing people.  We had clients, suppliers, AGF employees (dressed in their blue golf shirts) and family and friends who joined us for this great charity.  We were so touched that members of our AGF family from Groupe AGF and AGF C & T joined us for this special occasion and showed their support for this cause. The AGF Group Foundation was well represented by its own President, Serge Gendron as well as Jean Fortin who also sits on the board.  Pierre Colangelo and myself were there as ambassadors to the Foundation.<\/p>\n

The Manderley provided a delicious chicken dinner to end our festivities just before our Master of Ceremonies, Jean Fortin,  presented the prizes to our contest and door prize winners. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day.<\/p>\n

As an ambassador for the AGF Group Foundation, I have to mention how proud and thankful I was to all those who worked so hard making our first golf tournament such a success! Christopher Wyatt approached me last year with a proposal for this event and together with Christian Witt and Jean Fortin they organized, got sponsors, players, prizes and planned to make this event a success. Thank you Sandy Espinoza who worked with me for all the administrative tasks leading up to the big day.  Of course these events could not  happen without volunteers so a huge thank you to Carol Pope, Lynne Nixon, Julie Baron, Laurie-Anne Fortin and Sandy Espinoza for helping me throughout the day.<\/p>\n

AGF Steel (Ottawa) organiza su primer torneo de golf anual de beneficencia<\/strong><\/h2>\n

No podríamos haber pedido un día más hermoso para organizar nuestro primer torneo de golf anual. El sábado 24 de septiembre fue una fresca y soleada mañana en la que 54 jugadores de golf y 6 voluntarios se reunieron en los greens de Manderley on the Green en North Gower para recaudar dinero para el Centro para la Adicción y la Salud Mental (CAMH por sus siglas en inglés). Se recaudó un total de 8100 CAD por medio de las tarifas de los jugadores, cenas, concursos, una rifa 50\/50 y patrocinios de hoyos, de los cuales la Fundación Grupo AGF nos otorgó 500 CAD. Los jugadores tenían que conquistar 18 hoyos con varios desafíos a lo largo de los cuales se incluía un concurso de chipping, una competencia contra profesionales, un drive más largo y un concurso para ver quién tiraba la pelota más cerca del banderín. El recorrido terminó con un concurso de putting en el que se utilizaron palos fabricados con varios productos de refuerzo, construidos por Jean Fortin, quien también construyó una caja cubierta con una malla metálica para nuestro concurso de chipping. ¡Qué manera tan ingeniosa de mostrarles los productos a nuestros clientes!<\/p>\n

Fue un día maravilloso con gente maravillosa. Nos acompañaron clientes, proveedores, empleados de AGF (vestidos con sus camisas de golf azules), familia y amigos durante esta gran obra de beneficencia. Nos conmovió que miembros de nuestra familia AGF del Grupo AGF y de AGF C & T nos acompañaran en esta ocasión especial y mostraran su apoyo para esta causa. La Fundación Grupo AGF estuvo bien representada por su propio Presidente, Serge Gendron y por Jean Fortin, quien también forma parte del consejo. Pierre Colangelo y yo misma estuvimos presentes como embajadores de la Fundación.<\/p>\n

El Manderley sirvió un delicioso pollo para la cena para finalizar nuestras festividades justo antes de que Jean Fortin, nuestro maestro de ceremonias, presentara los premios de nuestro concurso y a los ganadores de nuestro premio con el número de la entrada. Fue un final perfecto para un día perfecto.<\/p>\n

Como embajadora de la Fundación Grupo AGF, tengo que mencionar lo orgullosa y agradecida que me siento ¡con todos los que trabajaron tan arduamente para que el torneo de golf fuera un éxito! Christopher Wyatt se me acercó el año pasado con una propuesta para este evento y junto con Christian Witt y Jean Fortin lo organizaron, obtuvieron patrocinadores, jugadores, premios y planearon todo para que este evento fuera un éxito. Gracias a Sandy Espinoza quien trabajo conmigo para realizar todas las tareas administrativas necesarias para este gran día. Por supuesto que este tipo de eventos no podrían realizarse sin voluntarios, así que un enorme agradecimiento a Carol Pope, Lynne Nixon, Julie Baron, Laurie-Anne Fortin y Sandy Espinoza por ayudarme durante todo el día.<\/p>\n
