With support from AGF Steel, Marie-Ève Bouchard and Caroline Lafontaine, two young women from the Montérégie region, took part in the Trophée Roses des Sables rally in the Moroccan desert, from October 12 to 23, 2016.<\/p>\n

Their team, La Caravane dans le vent, participated in the sixteenth edition of the 100% women-only adventure rally, in a 4×4. Equipped with a compass and a road book, they negotiated sand dunes, ravines, plateaus and dried river beds.<\/p>\n

It took them nearly two years to raise the funds to take part in the event: search for sponsors, hot dog sales, spaghetti dinner, bowlathon, poker night, karaoke night, candy sale and bagging at grocery stores.<\/p>\n

Despite long days on the road, mechanical problems, heat and the challenges associated with driving, they completed the course, covering more than 5,000 km. Marie-Ève did the driving, with instructions from her navigator, Caroline, who interpreted the road book.<\/p>\n

Through their efforts, they raised funds for causes associated with the rally: Cancer du Sein, Parlons-en !, and the Breakfast Club of Canada. They also made donations in kind to Moroccan children, through the Enfants du desert initiative.<\/p>\n

They returned home to Quebec with a great sense of achievement, after finishing 42nd<\/sup> out of a total 106 participating teams.<\/p>\n

They proudly sported the AGF Steel logo on their truck and on their sweaters as they crossed the desert. They would like to thank the company for its support and confidence in their project.<\/p>\n

AGF presente en el “Trophée Roses des Sables”<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Gracias al apoyo de Acier AGF, Marie-Ève Bouchard y Caroline Lafontaine, dos jóvenes mujeres de Montérégie, participaron, del 12 al 23 de octubre de 2016, en el “Trophée Roses des Sables” en el desierto marroquí.<\/p>\n

Su equipaje, “La Caravane dans le vent”, formó parte de la 16ª edición del rally-aventura 100% femenino a bordo de un cuatro por cuatro. Equipadas con una brújula y su libro de abordo, atravesaron dunas, cañones, barrancos, altiplanos y ríos secos.<\/p>\n

Les tomó casi dos años de procedimientos para recaudar los fondos necesarios para su participación: la búsqueda de patrocinadores, ventas de hot-dogs, cenas de espagueti, boliche, póker, karaoke, ventas de dulces y envolturas en las tiendas de comestibles.<\/p>\n

A pesar de los largos días de ruta, las dificultades mecánicas, el calor y los desafíos relacionados con manejar, llegaron al término de su recorrido alcanzando más de 5000 km. Marie-Ève, la piloto, condujo el camión bajo las instrucciones de su copiloto, Caroline, quien debía descifrar el libro de abordo conforme avanzaba el día.<\/p>\n

Su participación permitió realizar los donativos para las causas asociadas al rally, es decir, el cáncer de seno, Parlons-en ! y el Club des petits déjeuners. Además, les ofrecieron donativos materiales a niños marroquís, gracias a Enfants du désert.<\/p>\n

Regresaron a Quebec con un gran sentimiento de logro y la posición final de 42º lugar entre los 106 equipos participantes.<\/p>\n

Es con gran orgullo que atravesaron el desierto con el logotipo de Acier AGF sobre su camión y sus camisetas. Desean agradecerle a la empresa por su apoyo y confianza en su proyecto.<\/p>\n
