Produced for the Saint Jacques overpass, it is 100 feet long and weighs about 19 tonnes.

The caisson pile is a metal tube consisting of rebar rods that are bound together. Once it is buried in the ground, it is filled with concrete.

The portion of the pile that remains above ground is where the bridge footing will be placed

Anchored up to 26 feet deep in the ground, the pile will support the second section of the Saint-Jacques overpass, a cable-stayed construction that will be similar to the Champlain bridge.

The project, which was delayed by two years for the rebuilding of a sewer main under the Décarie Expressway, began in July with the dismantling of the overpass. It should be completed by July 2018 and is a major part of the Turcot exchange megaproject. The project represents about 1,400 tonnes of steel and is notable for the size of its components.

According to Marc Gautier, an experienced Detailer who has worked at AGF since 2004, this caisson pile will not be the largest or the longest in the Highway 20 project.

“Some of them will be nearly 120 feet long, but because of vehicle load and size regulations, pieces longer than 110 feet cannot be transported by road and must be assembled on site,” he explained.

We encourage you to follow the progress of this major project, which many AGF employees are working on

On January 27, some lucky employees at the Longueuil division were on hand to watch […]

[221

post-43832","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-projects
["GET
