In a choice location between De Maisonneuve and De Bleury streets, alongside Place des Festivals, the Société d’habitation et de développement de Montréal (SHDM) is in the process of erecting an impressive building: the Îlot Balmoral. Launched in April 2016, the project represents about       2, 500 tonnes of steel, according to Claudio Rebolledo, detailer responsible for the project. The building is destined to become the showpiece of the Quartier des spectacles, highlighting Montreal’s creativity and ingenuity.It consists of two structures of 13 storeys each, separated by an oblique fault line creating a full-height atrium that provides exceptional natural light. The SHDM also benefits from AGF’s post-tension expertise, as the design also incorporates a number of post-tensioned reinforced cantilever beams at all levels.This large structure is distinguished by its architecture with two “red curtain walls” overlooking the Place des Festivals, Mount Royal and the city center.<\/p>\n

According to Yannick Deschamps, chief foreman for the project, one of the project’s major constraints is its tight deadlines, with the south tower slated for completion by April and the north tower by June.<\/p>\n

AGF en el corazón del “Quartier des spectacles”<\/strong><\/h2>\n

En colaboración con Patrick Farley, director técnico y post-tensión, AGF Acero<\/em><\/p>\n

Con una ubicación prestigiosa entre las calles De Maisonneuve y De Bleury, en las inmediaciones de la plaza de los festivales, la Sociedad de Habitación y Desarrollo de Montreal (SHDM) está construyendo una impresionante edificación: el “Îlot Balmoral”. El proyecto que inició el pasado mes de abril constituye aproximadamente 2 500 t de acero, de acuerdo con Claudio Rebolledo, detallista responsable del proyecto. Esta construcción constituirá indiscutiblemente la obra maestra del “Quartier des spectales” y destacará la creatividad y el ingenio de Montreal. El proyecto está compuesto de dos torres de trece pisos marcadas por una falla oblicua, la cual ofrece una pieza principal elevada y una luminosidad excepcional. . El SHDM también se beneficia de la experiencia en la post-tensión AGF debido a que el diseño también incorpora varias vigas en voladizo reforzado después de la tensión, y esto en todos los niveles. Esta estructura de envergadura resaltará por su arquitectura, que hace gala de dos “muros cortina” rojos con vista a la plaza de los festivales, a Mont-Royal y al centro de la ciudad.<\/p>\n

De acuerdo con Yannick Deschamps, Capataz en Jefe del proyecto, una de las restricciones más grandes asociadas al proyecto son los plazos ajustados ya que la torre sur debería de estar terminada alrededor del mes de abril y la torre norte debería de estar lista alrededor del mes de junio próximo.<\/p>\n
