On February 23, I had the pleasure of attending a meeting of the vice-presidents and general managers of our Quebec and Ontario steel plants. The aim was to share information about their objectives, as well as some best practices. In a large group such as ours, teams from several different plants frequently work together, but it is rare that all managers sit down at the same table to get to know each other, exchange ideas, ask questions and make resolutions. <\/p>\n

What I liked about this meeting was being able to take advantage of such a wealth of expertise gathered in one place: 20 people, each with their own specialty. Finance, engineering, rebar and post-tensioning, obviously, as well as innovation, project management, social involvement, customer management, health and safety, human resources and market development. <\/p>\n

This meeting was another example of how fortunate we are to be able to count on so many experienced people with varied and complementary profiles. I find it reassuring—and a source of pride—to know we have the resources we need to take on every challenge that arises.<\/p>\n

¡Qué bella riqueza!<\/strong><\/h2>\n

El pasado 23 de febrero, tuve la dicha de ser invitada a participar en un encuentro entre los vicepresidentes y directores generales de las diferentes fábricas de acero de Quebec y de Ontario. El objetivo era intercambiar información sobre los objetivos a alcanzar y también compartir algunas buenas prácticas. En un grupo grande como el nuestro, con frecuencia varios equipos de diferentes fábricas colaboran juntos. Sin embargo, es raro que todos los directivos puedan sentarse en la misma mesa para conocerse, intercambiar ideas, hacer preguntas y tomar algunas decisiones.<\/p>\n

Lo que más me gustó de esta reunión fue tener la oportunidad de aprovechar toda la riqueza reunida en una sola sala. Había veinte participantes, cada uno con su especialidad: finanzas, ingeniería, logística, acero de refuerzo y postensado, obviamente, y también innovación, gestión de proyectos, implicación social, gestión de la clientela, salud y seguridad, recursos humanos, desarrollo de mercado, etc.<\/p>\n

Esta reunión fue una ocasión más para darnos cuenta de la suerte que tenemos de poder contar con tanta gente experimentada, con perfiles variados y complementarios. Me parece reconfortante, y una fuente de orgullo también, saber que para cada desafío, contamos con los recursos necesarios para enfrentarlo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
