In 2020, Dubai will be hosting Expo 2020, the third largest global event after the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup. The theme for Expo 2020 will be “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” and will address topics such as sustainability, mobility and opportunity. The government has three more years to create a unique site inspired by local design and architecture and the natural environment. The village will be built on about 240 hectares and will welcome more than 250,000 visitors every day. In addition, there will public transit, hotels, restaurants, stores and a public park.<\/p>\n

For this project, the government has asked for a 15 km extension of the metro’s Red Line, which will be called Route 2020. It will connect Nakheel Harbour (the world’s tallest tower, built in 2014) to the Expo 2020 site.<\/p>\n

Babich U.A.E. Reinforcement LLC, an international division of AGF Group in Abu Dhabi, UAE, obtained the contract for the new phase of the Dubai metro. Our mandate will be to install rebar in a prefabrication workshop. In total, 20,000 tonnes will be installed by our installation team, in 260 joist headers and 3,000 segments. We will be facing a sizeable challenge since all work must be completed in 14 months.<\/p>\n

Babich was involved in the metro’s first phase in 2005, which represented 75,000 tonnes. Some of the employees who worked on the first phase will also be involved in the new project. Their experience will be a definite asset in ensuring we meet the deadline.<\/p>\n

For now, we are at the preparation stage, developing methods for the storage and installation of rebar. Starting in April 2017,150 steel workers will be producing prefab elements.<\/p>\n

No effort will be spared in ensuring that this huge project is a success.<\/p>\n

Expo 2020: Extensión del metro de Dubái<\/strong><\/h2>\n

En el 2020, Dubái será anfitrión de la “Expo 2020”, el tercer evento más grande del mundo después de los Juegos Olímpicos y de la Copa Mundial de Futbol. La Expo 2020 tendrá como tema: “Conectar mentes, crear el futuro” y presentará temas como durabilidad, movilidad y oportunidad. El gobierno cuenta todavía con tres años para crear un sitio único, inspirado en un diseño local, con una arquitectura y un ambiente natural. La ciudad será construida en aproximadamente 240 ha, lo que permitirá recibir más de 250 000 personas por día. Además, va a tener un servicio de transporte, hoteles, restaurantes, comercios y un parque público a su disposición.<\/p>\n

Para hacerlo, el gobierno solicitó una extensión de 15 km de la Línea Roja, llamada Ruta 2020, la cual conectará a la Nakheel Harbour (la torre más elevada del mundo construida en 2014) con el sitio Expo 2020.<\/p>\n

Nuestro mandato consistirá en efectuar la instalación de acero de refuerzo en un taller de prefabricación. En total, nuestro equipo de instalación colocará 20 000 t, en 260 soleras y 3000 segmentos. Enfrentaremos un desafío importante, ya que deberemos realizar todo en catorce meses.<\/p>\n

Babich participó en la primera fase del metro en 2005, la cual conllevó 75 000 t. Una parte del personal presente en la primera fase participará en el proyecto nuevo; indudablemente su experiencia será una ventaja para poder respetar el cronograma de ejecución.<\/p>\n

Por el momento, estamos en la etapa de preparación, de la elaboración de métodos para el almacenamiento y para la instalación del acero de refuerzo. Desde abril 2017, 150 obreros encargados de la elaboración de armaduras empezarán a realizar los elementos prefabricados.<\/p>\n
