Of course, there are strict standards governing the manufacturing of this type of steel.

We have to provide a plant that is free of black steel to prevent any contamination. After studying ways to adapt the current plant, we came up with the solution of renovating part of the existing facility. With input from our entire team, we made arrangements to obtain the equipment needed to produce the stainless steel, built a wall to divide the plant in two, installed a concrete floor and modified the entire electrical system.

In addition, our outdoor yard had to be reorganized to make room for 4,000 tonnes of stainless steel. This was a huge job that had to be completed in record time since the steel was being shipped promptly.

We encountered a number of constraints when we were starting up manufacturing: training many people on a giant machine (PLANET 20), handling the product in compliance with all the requirements and precautions, as well as a very slow start on the worksite. But our entire team pitched in and we were able to gain the experience needed to go from learning mode to operating mode.

We are producing steel for BPDL (a subcontractor on the Champlain Bridge project) on a regular basis. The company cannot supply the site within the required timelines so we are lending a hand.

Lastly, we have also been producing steel for the Calgary division. We would like to thank Daniel Matte for putting his trust in us.

We should mention that ATR was accredited in December by the MTO (Ontario’s Ministry of Transport) for stainless steel production. With this accreditation, we can supply the MTO’s projects. The application was made in cooperation with AGF Group: Katherina Beck put together the application file, Maxime Gendron made contacts for the inspector’s visit and ATR coordinated the entire project.

At ATR, we’re ready to respond to any requests from AGF Group’s divisions and put our expertise to work for you!

Acero inoxidable

In November 2015, AGF Steel was awarded the contract for the new Champlain Bridge by […]

[221,231

post-44040","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-projects","category-team-members
["GET
