Little by little, factors related to cost reduction—which have allowed many countries to overcome one of the worst crises in history—have been left behind. Labour-cost reductions, the export competitiveness reinforced by the dollar rise, the 65% drop in oil prices during the last eight years, and the measures to drive the economy (with interest rates close to zero percent) have been efficient variables up to now, but they will not be enough for a sustainable growth over time.<\/p>\n

The global picture, which has been taking shape during the last months (with uncertainty as a constant), depends on the political decisions President Trump makes in the United States, on the electoral scene open in key countries in Europe, on the still uncertain Brexit process, and on the permanent jihadist threat.<\/p>\n

From the economic perspective, this will increasingly have an impact on the fourth industrial revolution we are living, which goes beyond borders, sectors and established models. It is time to launch a second wave of competitiveness, supported by the technological and digital revolution lived globally, but also by innovation, which will help us challenge the established orthodoxies to promote attitudes that will necessarily be differentiating. Only this way we can answer the dilemmas that the new economy brings up; promoting the collaboration between companies, creating new businesses and synergies, and succeeding in the experience economy, where the equation product\/quality\/price is no longer enough: the client’s experience needs to be the key to hire us.<\/p>\n

However, we need to do more. The challenges of the fourth industrial revolution, the new frontier that defines the intelligent, computerized factory with all the processes interconnected by the Internet of things, offers a great opportunity to improve the current competitive position through the usage of new production systems and efficient processes. How do we imagine the scrap metal industry in 50 years?<\/p>\n

Personally, I imagine it with the mass production of prefabricated components like beams or pillars and the installation of flagstones with rolled wire panels that can be spread out easily so only a few workers will be needed to mount a flagstone in less time than a team of thirty, like nowadays.<\/p>\n

But maybe the determining factor or the fourth industrialization will be the profile of the future worker. We must be aware of the recycling training that will affect all the workers, keeping our talents as the differentiating means over the competition.<\/p>\n

The question is: why wait 50 years? Our industry has the technology and machinery to accomplish this job.<\/p>\n

Revolucion industrial 4.0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Poco a poco van quedando atrás factores relacionados con el abaratamiento de costes que han permitido a muchos países, superar una de las peores crisis de la historia. La disminución de los costes laborales, la competitividad de las exportaciones reforzada por el encarecimiento del dólar, la bajada del 65 por ciento del precio del barril de petróleo en los últimos 8 años y las medidas de impulso económico -con tipos de interés cercanos al 0 por ciento- han sido variables eficaces hasta ahora pero no serán suficientes para crecer de manera sostenible en el tiempo.<\/p>\n

El mapa global que se viene configurando en los últimos meses (con la incertidumbre como constante) depende de las decisiones políticas que vaya tomando el presidente Trump en EEUU, del panorama electoral abierto en países clave de Europa, del todavía incierto proceso de Brexit y de la permanente amenaza yihadista.<\/p>\n

En el plano económico impactará cada vez más la 4ª revolución industrial que ya estamos viviendo y que trasciende fronteras, sectores y modelos establecidos. Es el momento de impulsar una segunda ola de competitividad, apalancada en la revolución digital y tecnológica que se vive ya a nivel global, pero también en la innovación que nos ayudará a desafiar a las ortodoxias establecidas para fomentar actitudes necesariamente diferenciadoras. Sólo así podremos responder a los dilemas que la nueva economía plantea, fomentando la colaboración entre compañías en el que se crean a diario nuevos negocios y sinergias y triunfar en la economía de la experiencia, en la que ya no es suficiente con la fórmula producto\/calidad\/precio sino que la experiencia que se ofrece al cliente sea la clave de nuestra contratación.<\/p>\n

Pero hace falta más. Los retos de la industrialización 4.0, la nueva frontera que define la fábrica inteligente e informatizada con todos los procesos interconectados por el Internet de las Cosas, ofrece una gran oportunidad para mejorar la actual posición competitiva a través del uso de nuevos sistemas de producción y eficiencia de los procesos. ¿Cómo imaginamos la industria de la ferralla dentro de 50 años?<\/p>\n

Yo la imagino con la prefabricación masiva de elementos tales como vigas o pilares y la instalación de losas con paneles de malla enrollados y de fácil extendido en el que sólo unos pocos trabajadores, serán capaces de montar una losa en menos tiempo del que un un equipo de 30 personas, realizan esa misma tarea en la actualidad.<\/p>\n

Pero quizá el factor determinante de la industrialización 4.0 sea el perfil del trabajador del futuro. Hemos de ser conscientes respecto al reciclaje formativo que afectará a todos los trabajadores, proponiéndonos como objetivo conservar el talento como medio diferenciador frente a la competencia.<\/p>\n

La cuestión es: ¿Por qué esperar 50 años? Ya existe en nuestra industria las maquinas y la tecnología, capaces de realizar este trabajo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
