{"id":44082,"date":"2017-06-15T11:08:00","date_gmt":"2017-06-15T15:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/en\/the-network\/uncategorized\/heading-for-another-30-km"},"modified":"2024-05-07T15:28:19","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T19:28:19","slug":"heading-for-another-30-km","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/en\/the-network\/foundation\/heading-for-another-30-km","title":{"rendered":"Heading for another 30 km!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The Groupe des&nbsp;Roses&nbsp;is a Quebec-wide movement that has been helping women make physical activity part of their daily lives for the past six years.<\/p>\n<p>What is motivating me this year?&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I have embraced running for the past years and have tackled this sizeable challenge in my own way.&nbsp;When the activity is non-competitive, it appeals to me even more. The cause this year is mental health, with a fundraiser for the Douglas University Mental Health Institute Foundation and the IRIC. And that&rsquo;s precisely one of the main benefits of physical activity: a healthy mind in a healthy body!&nbsp;<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/IMG_1744-7.jpg\" style=\"float:right; height:155px; width:200px\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>This year, I&rsquo;m part of the group as a mentor. My role is to create a relationship of trust with the recruits I am mentoring. I make sure they know I&rsquo;m there to help them with psychological support for their learning process, preparations for training and their challenge.<\/p>\n<p>We have grown from just one recruit in my region to three running mentors and one cycling mentor, as well as five running recruits. And, new this year, a Junior Rose Junior Group has been created, and my 10-year-old daughter was quick to get involved and take on the challenge. Talk about making a mother proud!<\/p>\n<p>Another challenge this year is that we have one less month to train, since the event has been moved up to August. This was enough to induce mild panic, but we were quickly reassured with the first group training sessions.<\/p>\n<p>Less than three months before the Big Day, I can tell you that the strength of the group is obvious. It&rsquo;s very different from my training plan last year, when I was the only person in my region doing it.<\/p>\n<p>In recent months, with the realities of a busy life (full-time job, kids and homework, extracurricular activities, housework and of course, my relationship with my husband), we have managed to make our runs a priority. We schedule runs for two, three or four participants, and sometimes we go together. Some evenings, our supportive partners and kids are motivated to come along. I&rsquo;m lucky to have two friends whose kids can babysit mine, or else I wouldn&rsquo;t be able to join them. We run at all hours of the day&mdash;from 4 in the morning to 8 at night. Some of us run on our lunch break, others at the end of the day, rain or shine. We weren&rsquo;t even dissuaded by minus-20-degree weather! It&rsquo;s not so cold when you&rsquo;re with a group.<\/p>\n<p>If you run into a Rose, ask her what changed in her life when she joined the group. Most will tell you that they learned how to make time for their health and for themselves, and to revisit their priorities.<\/p>\n<p>When people notice us and tell us we&rsquo;re inspiring, we know we&rsquo;ve succeeded.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You don&rsquo;t have to be a member of the Roses to take part in the challenge. Or you can hop on your bike and ride 60, 105 or 145 km.<\/p>\n<p>Check out this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5rer8w-lqrA&amp;sns=em\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">video<\/a> from last year&rsquo;s event and you&rsquo;ll feel the emotion.<\/p>\n<p>I&rsquo;ll be there, and I would like to thank the AGF Group Foundation for generously donated $500 to my fundraising efforts!<\/p>\n<p>How about you?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Ligne_bleue_separation_version_e-2003.jpg\" style=\"height:67px; width:400px\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<h2><strong>&iexcl;En camino hacia 30&nbsp;km m&aacute;s!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>El grupo de <em>Les Roses<\/em> es un movimiento que desde hace seis a&ntilde;os ayuda a las mujeres en todo Quebec a integrar la actividad f&iacute;sica en sus vidas.<\/p>\n<p>&iquest;Qu&eacute; es lo que me motiva tanto otra vez este a&ntilde;o?<\/p>\n<p>Corredora de coraz&oacute;n desde hace tres a&ntilde;os, todav&iacute;a me atrae la realizaci&oacute;n de este gran desaf&iacute;o, a mi manera, sin competici&oacute;n. La causa elegida es la salud mental y la colecta de fondos es para la Fundaci&oacute;n Douglas, el Instituto Universitario de Salud Mental y el Instituto de Investigaci&oacute;n de Inmunolog&iacute;a y Cancerolog&iacute;a. &iquest;Qu&eacute; mejor que reunir uno de los principales beneficios de la actividad f&iacute;sica?&#8230; &iexcl;Mente sana en cuerpo sano!<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/IMG_1744-8.jpg\" style=\"float:right; height:155px; width:200px\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Este a&ntilde;o, estoy presente en el grupo como mentora. Mi papel es crear un lazo de confianza con las participantes con las que estoy aliada; hacerles sentir que estoy ah&iacute; para ayudarlas psicol&oacute;gicamente, durante su aprendizaje, en el proceso de preparaci&oacute;n para los entrenamientos y en su desaf&iacute;o.<\/p>\n<p>De ser una participante en mi regi&oacute;n, pasamos a ser tres mentoras de competencias de carreras y una mentora de ciclismo con m&aacute;s de cinco participantes en curso. Adem&aacute;s, una novedad este a&ntilde;o es que se cre&oacute; un peque&ntilde;o grupo Rose Junior y mi hija mayor de diez a&ntilde;os no dud&oacute; en implicarse para aceptar el desaf&iacute;o. &iexcl;Mam&aacute; orgullosa!<\/p>\n<p>El desaf&iacute;o suplementario de este a&ntilde;o fue un mes menos para entrenar. El evento se anticip&oacute; para finales de agosto. Esto provoca un poco de p&aacute;nico, pero nos apresuramos a tranquilizarnos r&aacute;pidamente durante los primeros entrenamientos en grupo.<\/p>\n<p>A menos de tres meses del gran d&iacute;a, puedo decirles que reconozco la fuerza de un grupo, lo cual ha sido diferente de mi plan de entrenamiento del a&ntilde;o pasado, cuando era la &uacute;nica de mi regi&oacute;n que segu&iacute;a el plan.<\/p>\n<p>Estos &uacute;ltimos meses, con la realidad de una vida agitada (entre el trabajo a tiempo completo, los hijos y las tareas, las actividades paraescolares, las tareas dom&eacute;sticas y por supuesto la vida de pareja), logramos darle prioridad a nuestras salidas. Ponemos en nuestra agenda salidas entre dos, tres, cuatro y algunas veces todas juntas con parejas comprensivas e hijos que se motivan a acompa&ntilde;arnos algunas noches. Tuve la suerte de estar con chicas que dejan a sus hijos venir a cuidar a los m&iacute;os; si no, me ser&iacute;a imposible unirme al grupo. Corremos a cualquier hora entre las 4:00 a.&nbsp;m. y las 8:00 p.&nbsp;m. Algunas veces vamos al medio d&iacute;a, otras al final del d&iacute;a, buen tiempo o mal tiempo. &iexcl;Hemos corrido a -20&nbsp;&deg;C! En grupo no es tan fr&iacute;o.<\/p>\n<p>Si encuentra a un miembro de<em> Les Roses<\/em>, preg&uacute;ntele lo que ha cambiado al unirse al grupo. La mayor&iacute;a responder&aacute; que ha aprendido a dedicarle tiempo a su salud, a dejarse llevar para tomar tiempo personal y a reconsider<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/FullSizeRender_5_-8.jpg\" style=\"float:right; height:150px; width:200px\" title=\"\">ar las prioridades.<\/p>\n<p>&iexcl;No pasamos desapercibidas! &iexcl;Nos dicen que somos inspiradoras! &iexcl;Lo hemos logrado!<\/p>\n<p>No necesita ser parte de <em>Les Roses<\/em> para afrontar este desaf&iacute;o. Venga a vivir el entusiasmo de la salida con nosotros.<\/p>\n<p>&iquest;Me acompa&ntilde;ar&aacute;?
