As we told you in an earlier article, our workers were finalizing the crossbeam and the bowtie (upper crossbeam) to be able to proceed with the final step of erecting the towerheads.

The workers have now completed the bowtie and recently began mounting the cable-stayed section of the tower. The steel cable stays, which are assembled in strands, will support the bridge superstructure and distribute the load. At the west end of the bridge, the submerged pedestals, which provide the base for the bridge supports and support the segments, have almost all been installed between sections w3 and w21. The segments form the columns that support the pier caps and the superstructure.

The 01 segments, located directly below the pier caps, are of particular interest since because they are prefabricated in the plant to speed up the installation process on the worksite. This is an increasingly common trend in the rebar industry because it saves so much time for onsite workers. Preassembled at the Armabec plant and transported to the site by truck, the 01 segments are poured on the temporary jetties and then installed on the piers. The inclined design represents a sizeable challenge in that construction work must be must be meticulously executed, and suitable materials be chosen in order to comply with stringent requirements.

Each of these 01 segments represent about seven tonnes of steel. Twelve of the 40 segments have now been installed on the west side.

At the east end, work is not quite as advanced, since there are still many segments to be installed and foundations 23, 24 and 25 still have not been built.

In addition to the Champlain Bridge, work will also be done on a number of other accesses including some small overpasses and the Nuns’ Island Bridge, which will require about 1,500 tonnes of rebar. The project is advancing well because all that is left is the installation of the north and south. Superstructure.

For more information on progress, please visit the website for the new Champlain Bridge.

The project, which began nearly two years ago, has been moving forward steadily in recent […]

[221

post-44126","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-projects
["GET
