The Estimating department in Ottawa has acquired 4 Touchscreens recently. We were selected as “test group”. <\/p>\n

The original idea came from Neil Stairs (Previous Chief Estimator, now retired) and the project was aptly named ” The Stairs Project: in his honour. <\/p>\n

\"\"The idea behind this project is to get rid of paper usage. The system will pay itself off by savings incurred by paper costs, printing costs (printer, toner), hours saved from printing, office supplies savings and so on. <\/p>\n

We also acquired Bluebeam Software to run the system and it is going quite well. It is packed full of useful tools for estimating. <\/p>\n

In November, we are expected to show the advantages of the system to other Business Units. We will keep you up to date on how things are going.<\/p>\n

Los tiempos cambian<\/h2>\n

El Departamento de Estimaciones de Ottawa adquirió últimamente cuatro pantallas táctiles. Nuestra unidad fue seleccionada como el “grupo de prueba”.<\/p>\n

La idea original viene de Neil Stairs (antiguamente Jefe de Estimaciones, ahora jubilado). La prueba fue nombrada en su honor “Proyecto Stairs”.<\/p>\n

Las pantallas están siendo integradas. La idea es deshacerse del papel. Esperamos que se recupere la inversión de las pantallas con lo que se ahorrará en papel, el tiempo para imprimir, los costos de impresión (tinta e impresora), así como ciertos costos de material.<\/p>\n

También obtuvimos el programa Bluebeam para facilitar la utilización de las pantallas y nos sentimos bastante satisfechos. Cuenta con una gran cantidad de herramientas interesantes para la estimación.<\/p>\n
