{"id":44204,"date":"2017-08-18T10:20:00","date_gmt":"2017-08-18T14:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/en\/the-network\/uncategorized\/happiness-program"},"modified":"2024-05-07T15:28:44","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T19:28:44","slug":"happiness-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/en\/the-network\/general-interest\/happiness-program","title":{"rendered":"Happiness program"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Over the past few months, Marilyne Barbey (innovation engineer) and I have been touring AGF&rsquo;s various business units to meet with plant employees and administrative staff. We have already met with more than 240 employees.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of our presentations, which last about one hour, is to explain how Lean Manufacturing works. We intend to implement it across all of our business units in the steel sector to improve organizational efficiency and thereby boost satisfaction with working at AGF.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Improvement and the trouser crease<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To quote Einstein, &ldquo;Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results.&rdquo; If we want to develop and improve what we do, we need to do things differently. And doing things differently implies changes. This is where the metaphor of the trouser pleat comes in.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Any of you who have ever had a trouser crease in a location other than the original know that you have to iron the same spot several times before the old crease disappears and the new one takes its place. This image is a fitting illustration of the effort required to make changes to the work we do.<\/p>\n<p>First, you set yourself an objective (knowing where the crease will go) and then you put in the effort and discipline to repeat the exercise (ironing several times) for as long as it takes to achieve your goal. If consistency, effort and discipline aren&rsquo;t there, you&rsquo;ll end up with two different elements that do not work entirely as intended (two creases is worse than one in the wrong place).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Happiness at work<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Over the coming months and years, AGF will be embarking on a process of improving its operations, which will call for participation by all employees. Everyone will have to keep an open mind and accept that it is indeed possible to do better (get the crease in the right place) and everyone will have to put in the effort required to apply new ways of doing things on an ongoing basis.<\/p>\n<p>This is where the&nbsp;&ldquo;happiness program&rdquo; comes into the picture. Working better in a safer environment and feeling that the entire staff is working toward the same goal creates happiness and satisfaction.<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s been proven that by eliminating the frustrations caused by inefficient processes, we quickly become happier and more fulfilled in our work. Lean Manufacturing can be defined as a &ldquo;happiness program&rdquo; since it is aimed at eliminating waste and activities that are neither useful nor necessary. And AGF&rsquo;s Innovation department is there to support you in this process.<\/p>\n<p>So until my next article on the metaphor of coffee and herbal tea, happy ironing!<\/p>\n<p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Ligne_bleue_separation_version_e-2018.jpg\" style=\"height:67px; width:400px\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Programa de felicidad<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Desde hace varios meses, Marilyne Barbey (Ingeniera, Innovaci&oacute;n) y yo empezamos un recorrido de las diferentes unidades de negocios de AGF para reunirnos con todos los empleados de la f&aacute;brica y el personal administrativo. Nos hemos ya reunido con m&aacute;s de 240 empleados.<\/p>\n<p>El objetivo de estas presentaciones de aproximadamente una hora es explicar el funcionamiento de la &ldquo;eficiencia productiva&rdquo; (<em>Lean Manufacturing<\/em>). Queremos implantar esta manera de funcionar en todas la unidades de negocios del sector Acero para mejorar la eficiencia organizacional y as&iacute; aumentar la alegr&iacute;a de trabajar en AGF.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mejoras y la raya del pantal&oacute;n&#8230; <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Como dec&iacute;a Einstein: &ldquo;Locura es hacer lo mismo una y otra vez y esperar resultados diferentes.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Si deseamos evolucionar y mejorar, es necesario hacer las cosas de una manera distinta. Y hacer las cosas de una manera distinta implica cambio.<\/p>\n<p>Es aqu&iacute; que la met&aacute;fora de &ldquo;la raya del pantal&oacute;n&rdquo; interviene.<\/p>\n<p>Aquellos que hayan intentado alguna vez marcar la raya de un pantal&oacute;n en un lugar diferente del de la raya original saben que es necesario planchar varias veces en el mismo lugar antes de que la raya original desaparezca y de que la raya deseada se marque. Esta imagen ilustra bien el esfuerzo que hay que hacer para realizar un cambio en el trabajo que realizamos.<\/p>\n<p>Es necesario primero fijarse un objetivo (saber en d&oacute;nde se encontrar&aacute; la raya) y despu&eacute;s hacer el esfuerzo y tener la disciplina de repetir el ejercicio (planchar varias veces) el tiempo necesario para que el objetivo deseado sea alcanzado. Si faltan la constancia, el esfuerzo y la disciplina, nos encontraremos con dos elementos que no funcionan completamente como lo deseamos (tener dos rayas es peor que tener una en el lugar equivocado).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alegr&iacute;a en el trabajo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Durante los meses y a&ntilde;os que vienen, AGF se compromete a mejorar sus actividades, este proceso necesitar&aacute; de<a name=\"_GoBack\"><\/a> la participaci&oacute;n de todos los empleados. Todos deber&aacute;n mostrar una apertura de esp&iacute;ritu para aceptar que es posible mejorar (tener una raya en el lugar adecuado) y cada uno deber&aacute; realizar el esfuerzo necesario para aplicar las nuevas maneras de trabajar de manera continua.<\/p>\n<p>Es aqu&iacute; que entra en juego el &ldquo;Programa de la alegr&iacute;a&rdquo;. Trabajar mejor en un ambiente seguro y sentir que todo el personal trabaja con el mismo objetivo trae alegr&iacute;a y felicidad.<\/p>\n<p>Est&aacute; comprobado que al eliminar las frustraciones causadas por procesos poco eficaces tenemos tendencia a r&aacute;pidamente sentirnos m&aacute;s felices y realizados en nuestro trabajo. La &ldquo;eficiencia productiva&rdquo; puede entonces definirse como un &ldquo;Programa de la alegr&iacute;a&rdquo; ya que tiene como objetivo eliminar todos los desperdicios y actividades que no son &uacute;tiles y necesarios.
