The communications and IT departments have been working on a joint project over the past several months: digital signage. This technology, which was developed by Google, is a communications and marketing tool that can be used to post information in the form of multimedia content. Digital signage is widely used in restaurant chains, for example. Each business unit displays the same information on screens; the information is centralized at a single entity.<\/p>\n

At AGF Group, digital signage will be used for internal communication purposes at our various divisions. The project will be headed by the communications team at the Longueuil head office, with support from each business unit that is interested in adopting it. <\/p>\n

What is Chromebox?<\/h3>\n

Chromebox is a small computer that broadcasts a content feed on one or more screens. It is similar to Apple TV. The content is created using one of the Google tools (Slide, Sheet, Doc) and then integrated into a broadcast calendar, using the Chrome Builder app, which serves to identify the timeslots for your broadcasts, as well as offering many other presentation features. <\/p>\n

What is it used for?<\/h3>\n

Digital display can be used to post general information about major projects AGF is working on, our values and the services we provide. It will also be a good way to promote our Foundation. And since we will be installing this technology in as many divisions as possible, every location will be free to add local information in its presentation. <\/p>\n

Pilot project in Ottawa<\/h3>\n

Christan Witt and his team in Ottawa were the first to volunteer for this project. They’ve installed the screen in the reception area of their offices, and it seems the whole team likes it!
\n“Digital display is very handy, plus it adds a contemporary touch to the office. People who come to the office are very interested by the presentation. It defines who we are and what we do. I think it will have a strong impact on feelings of belonging and pride in AGF Group<\/em>,” says Christian Witt, general manager of AGF Steel Inc.’s Ottawa division.<\/p>\n

La señalización digital llega a Grupo AGF<\/h3>\n

Los departamentos de comunicaciones y de informática trabajan en conjunto desde hace varios meses en un nuevo proyecto: la señalización digital (Digital Signage), tecnología desarrollada por Google, la cual es una herramienta de comunicación y de mercadotecnia que permite difundir información en forma de contenido multimedia. Por ejemplo, la señalización digital es muy utilizada en las cadenas de restauración. Cada unidad de negocios presenta la misma información en las pantallas y está centralizada en una sola entidad.
\nEn Grupo AGF, la señalización digital será empleada para la comunicación interna en nuestras diferentes divisiones. El proyecto será dirigido por el equipo de comunicación de la sede social en Longueuil con el apoyo de cada una de las unidades de negocios que desee integrarse. <\/p>\n

¿Qué es Chromebox ?<\/h3>\n

Chromebox es una pequeña computadora que permite la difusión de contenido en flujo continuo en una o varias pantallas. De cierta manera es como un Apple TV. El contenido se crea previamente con una de las herramientas de Google (Slideshare, Sheets, Docs…) y enseguida es integrado a un calendario de difusión gracias a Chrome App Builder; esta aplicación permite determinar una franja horaria para las difusiones y también ofrece otras funcionalidades de presentación.<\/p>\n

¿Para qué sirve exactamente ?<\/h3>\n

La señalización digital permitirá transmitir la información general como: los proyectos principales en curso en AGF, nuestros valores y los servicios que ofrecemos. Además, será un buen medio para destacar a la Fundación Grupo AGF. Finalmente, como deseamos integrar esta tecnología en el mayor número de divisiones posible, cada ubicación tendrá la libertad de transmitir información local en su propia presentación. <\/p>\n

Proyecto piloto en Ottawa<\/h3>\n

Christan Witt y su equipo en Ottawa fueron los primeros voluntarios para el proyecto. Instalaron la pantalla en la recepción de las oficinas ¡y parece que todo el equipo lo aprecia!
\n“La señalización digital es muy práctica; le da a las oficinas un toque más moderno. La gente que entra a las oficinas se muestra muy interesada por la presentación. Define bien quiénes somos y lo que hacemos. Creo que esta herramienta tendrá un fuerte impacto en el sentimiento de pertenencia y de orgullo respecto al Grupo AGF.”, explica Christian Witt, Director General, Acier AGF Inc., división Ottawa.<\/p>\n
