{"id":44552,"date":"2017-12-14T10:36:00","date_gmt":"2017-12-14T15:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/en\/the-network\/uncategorized\/the-st-jacques-overpass-quite-a-logistical-challenge"},"modified":"2024-05-07T15:29:54","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T19:29:54","slug":"the-st-jacques-overpass-quite-a-logistical-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/en\/the-network\/projects\/the-st-jacques-overpass-quite-a-logistical-challenge","title":{"rendered":"The St-Jacques overpass: quite a logistical challenge!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>AGF Steel is currently working on the construction of the new St. Jacques Street overpass that crosses Highway 15 in Montreal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The project involves more than 1,300 tonnes of rebar. Its complexity is due to the restricted work space on the site as well as the length of the caisson piles, which averages 40 metres, and weigh 40 tonnes each. This issue presents a major logistical challenge since it&rsquo;s impossible to deliver caissons of this length assembled in a single piece.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/KIMG0570-4.jpg\" style=\"height:338px; width:450px\" title=\"\">&nbsp;&nbsp;<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/KIMG0557-4.jpg\" style=\"height:338px; width:450px\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>The solution. complex but definitely ingenious, was to preassemble the foot and head of the caissons in two separate parts and then finish the assembly on site.&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe procedure involved raising the foot of the caisson, lowering it into the hole for this purpose and then raising the caisson head. The assembly&nbsp; was then done with the foot directly on the work site, using 250-tonne cranes.<\/p>\n<p>The bridge footings, which are 4 metres in height, each have +\/-350 tonnes of rebar. Because of this, we must plan the transport of the rebar using a very precise methodology.<br \/>\nThe St. Jacques overpass is indeed a sizeable challenge, both in terms of fabrication and onsite installation&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, I would like to thank all those involved: Marc Morin (plant), Richard Leclerc (pre-assembly), Justin Voisard (superindendent), S&eacute;bastien B&eacute;langer (foreman) and Jonathan Desgagn&eacute; (foreman).<br \/>\nWell done!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Ligne_bleue_separation_version_e-2062.jpg\" style=\"height:67px; width:400px\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<h2>El Puente St-Jacques: &iexcl;gran desaf&iacute;o de log&iacute;stica!<\/h2>\n<p>Acier AGF trabaja presentemente en la construcci&oacute;n del nuevo puente de la calle St-Jacques, el cual pasa por encima de la autopista 15 en Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>El proyecto representa una cantidad de acero de refuerzo de m&aacute;s de 1300&nbsp;t. La complejidad del proyecto radica en el poco espacio de trabajo en la obra, as&iacute; como en la considerable longitud de los pilotes caj&oacute;n, los cuales tienen todos en promedio una longitud de 40&nbsp;m, con un peso de 40&nbsp;t cada uno. Esta problem&aacute;tica ocasiona un gran desaf&iacute;o de log&iacute;stica, ya que es imposible que entreguemos cajones de esta longitud montados en una sola pieza.<\/p>\n<p>La soluci&oacute;n, aunque es compleja pero muy ingeniosa, fue el preensamblado del pie y de la cabeza de los cajones en dos partes separadas, para despu&eacute;s realizar el ensamblado final en la obra.<\/p>\n<p>El procedimiento era elevar el pie del caj&oacute;n, bajarlo hasta el hueco previsto con este fin y despu&eacute;s levantar la cabeza. El ensamblado se realiz&oacute; despu&eacute;s con el pie directamente en la obra con la ayuda de gr&uacute;as de 250&nbsp;t.<\/p>\n<p>Por otra parte, cada una de las soleras del puente, de 4&nbsp;m de altura, cuenta con +\/-350&nbsp;t de acero de refuerzo.
