AGF Steel has installed around 15,000 tonnes of steel for the New Champlain Bridge up to now. <\/p>\n

AGF Access Group and its divisions are also a prominent presence on the site, with their numerous work platforms, site elevators and other innovative solutions for safely accessing challenging spots on the site.<\/p>\n

Feature article in La Presse<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

On May 13, La Presse<\/em> published a feature article on the advancement of work on the new Champlain Bridge. It described some of the technical details and included (La Presse<\/em> +) with photos from unique vantage points.<\/p>\n

“The cable-stayed portion of the new Champlain Bridge, which will become its visual signature, is taking shape. … “Drivers who cross the old bridge will no doubt have noticed the two huge plywood boxes that top the new bridge’s main pylon. “Each of these is like a small factory, divided in three,”<\/em> explains Frédéric Guitard, area manager of the cable-stayed portion of the bridge for the Signature on the Saint Lawrence consortium. The upper part of the casing is essentially a circular work platform, in the centre of which workers are installing huge reinforcing rods measuring 6 m in height and weighing just over 20 tonnes. Once they are installed—a delicate step that calls for extreme precision—the casting box is raised to cast the concrete, and 120 m3<\/sup> of cement is poured into the framework to form a new level of the pylon.<\/p>\n

En su edición del 13 de mayo pasado, La Presse dedicó un expediente al progreso del proyecto del nuevo Puente Champlain. Se muestran algunos detalles técnicos y fotografías con puntos de vista únicos (La Presse +).<\/p>\n

La parte atirantada del nuevo puente Champlain, la cual será su marca distintiva visual, está tomando forma. (…) Los automovilistas que toman el viejo puente Champlain habrán con seguridad visto dos inmensos contenedores de contrachapado que sobrepasan la torre central del nuevo puente. “Cada contenedor es una pequeña fábrica dividida en tres partes”, resume Frédéric Guitard, director de la sección atirantada para el consorcio Signature sobre el San Lorenzo. La parte superior del encofrado es esencialmente una plataforma de trabajo circular, en medio de la cual los obreros instalan inmensas estructuras de acero, de 6 m de altura y un peso de un poco más de 20 t. Una vez que estas jaulas se instalan, etapa delicada que necesita una gran precisión, la caja de colado se eleva para encofrar el cemento y se hace el colado en la estructura para formar un nuevo piso de la torre.
