Since I assumed responsibility for the Foundation four years ago, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing many fascinating and moving stories. The following is one of my favourties, since it is an inspiring example of how we can make a real difference with a little persévérance.<\/p>\n

The members of the Hydro-Mobile team in L’Assomption QC have long been fans of the work done by the Dr. Clown Foundation, which offers “La Belle Visite,”a therapeutic clown program for seniors. Motivated by a desire to help, Vincent Dequoy, president of AGF Access Group, and local ambassador Manon Larrivée put together a solid core of committed colleagues to organize a fundraiser.  <\/p>\n

On Saturday, June 2, one of the summer’s first sunny days, Manon and her team attracted 70 people to a bowling alley. Through a variety of activities, they raised a total of $7,500. While the idea of a major fundraiser had been in the works for two years, it took a dose of perseverance to stay the course during an exceptionally busy time at Hydro-Mobile.<\/p>\n

In parallel, I had been negotiating for some time with both the general manager of the Dr. Clown Foundation and the activity coordinator at a residence for seniors in cognitive decline. The people at Hydro-Mobile wanted the service to be available close to the residence, so we took the necessary steps to launch the program in a new location.<\/p>\n

We are extremely proud to announce that at long last our project will see the light of day! From July 18 until next April, the Dr. Clown team will be offering “La Belle Visite” to residents of the Faubourg every other week. I wonder who will benefit most in the end: the seniors in Repentigny or the AGF team?<\/p>\n

Concretización de un proyecto interminable<\/h2>\n

Desde que me ocupo de la Fundación, hace ya cuatro años, tengo el privilegio de ser testigo de varias historias fascinantes y conmovedoras. La historia siguiente es una de mis preferidas ya que es un ejemplo inspirador de que podemos hacer una diferencia concreta con un poco de perseverancia.<\/p>\n

El equipo de Hydro-Mobile en L’Assomption (Quebec) admira desde hace mucho tiempo el trabajo de la Fundación Dr. Clown, la cual ofrece, entre otros, un programa llamado “La bella visita”, el cual incluye payasos terapéuticos para la gente mayor. Preocupados con querer ayudar, Vincent Dequoy, presidente de Grupo AGF Accès, y la embajadora de ahí, Manon Larrivée, juntaron un sólido pequeño grupo de compañeros de equipo dedicados, para realizar una colecta de fondos.<\/p>\n

El pasado sábado 2 de junio, cuando el verano nos ofrecía su primer sol radiante, Manon y su grupo reunieron setenta personas en una sala de bolos. Junto con varias actividades conexas, se recaudó finalmente un monto de 7500 CAD. Aunque la idea de una recaudación de fondos tan importante se estaba planeando desde hace dos años, se necesitó ser perseverantes para seguir el curso durante un periodo más que ocupado en Hydro-Mobile.<\/p>\n

Paralelamente, yo estaba en negociaciones desde hace algún tiempo con el director general de la Fundación Dr. Clown y la responsable de las actividades de una residencia para personas de edad avanzada con pérdida de autonomía cognitiva. La gente de Hydro-Mobile deseaba que el servicio estuviese disponible cerca de ellos y ninguna residencia lo ofrecía. Es por esta razón que hicimos los trámites necesarios para abrir el programa en un lugar nuevo.<\/p>\n

¡Es con un gran orgullo compartido que anunciamos que el fruto de nuestros esfuerzos se concretiza finalmente! Desde el 18 de julio, y hasta el próximo abril, el equipo de Dr. Clown ofrecerá “La bella visita” a los residentes de Faubourg cada dos semanas. Me pregunto quién obtendrá el mayor beneficio al final: las personas de edad avanzada de Repentigny ¿o el equipo de AGF?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
