The company pledged to supply 85% of the access equipment for the bridge project, including mast climbers for the towers, traditional swing-stage scaffolding and ring-tied stairs, as well as temporary and permanent elevators inside and outside&nbsp;the bridge&rsquo;s pylon. In addition to standard access gear, AGF also saw a particular engineering challenge in accessing the undersides of the cantilevered spans.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;<em>They were building the bridge on a cantilevered segmented approach&mdash;bridge sections assembled and mounted on a cantilever<\/em>,&rdquo; says Alex Di Domenico, vice president for major projects at AGF. &ldquo;<em>We came up with some custom bolting platforms for that.<\/em>&rdquo; AGF provided three traveling aluminum access platforms instead of the typical steel platforms used in the industry, which features fully electrical controls to travel along the cantilevered sections of the bridge.<\/p>\n<p>The traveling platforms were a crucial staging area for construction, together providing full coverage of the bridge&rsquo;s 55-m width. The 19-m-wide platforms, designed to retract to 16 meters when stored at the ends of the bridge, boast a 4,000-kilogram capacity when fully extended. &ldquo;<em>That was the idea&mdash;one tonne for personnel, three for materials,<\/em>&rdquo; says Sony Trudel, engineering director for special projects at AGF. &ldquo;<em>When you have all three platforms together, you have [a working area] almost the size of an ice hockey rink.<\/em>&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Ligne_bleue_separation_version_e-2177.jpg\" style=\"height:67px; width:400px\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:14px; font-style:italic\">Fuente: Revista &ldquo;Engineering News-Record&rdquo; &ndash; Diciembre 2018: &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.enr.com\/articles\/46112-harsh-conditions-put-team-to-the-test-on-champlain-bridge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harsh Conditions Put Team to the Test on Champlain Bridge<\/a>&rdquo; por Aileen Cho de Montreal y Jeff Rubenstone.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Desaf&iacute;o de acceso<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>En su edici&oacute;n del mes de diciembre de 2018, la revista &ldquo;Engineering News-Record&rdquo; public&oacute; un art&iacute;culo muy interesante sobre las t&eacute;cnicas de ingenier&iacute;a implementadas para la construcci&oacute;n del nuevo Puente Champlain.<\/p>\n<p>Le compartimos un fragmento:<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Cuando Grupo AGF Acc&egrave;s inc. obtuvo el contrato para proporcionar soluciones de acceso para el puente, su primera etapa fue hablar con su divisi&oacute;n de proyectos especiales. La empresa se comprometi&oacute; a proporcionar el 85% del equipo de acceso para el puente, incluyendo plataformas elevadoras para las torres, plataformas m&oacute;viles y escaleras adjuntas, as&iacute; como ascensores temporales y permanentes al interior y al exterior del pilar del puente. Adem&aacute;s del equipo de acceso est&aacute;ndar, AGF tambi&eacute;n acept&oacute; un desaf&iacute;o t&eacute;cnico particular para acceder a la parte inferior de los tramos voladizos.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Construyeron el puente con un m&eacute;todo segmentado en voladizos; es decir, secciones de puentes ensambladas y montadas sobre un voladizo&rdquo;, explica Alex Di Domenico, vicepresidente de proyectos de gran envergadura de Grupo AGF Acc&egrave;s. &ldquo;Creamos plataformas personalizadas para satisfacer esta necesidad.&rdquo; AGF proporcion&oacute; tres plataformas de acceso m&oacute;viles de aluminio en vez de las plataformas de acero cl&aacute;sicas utilizadas en la industria, cada una dotada de controles completamente el&eacute;ctricos para recorrer las secciones del puente en voladizos.<\/p>\n<p>Las plataformas m&oacute;viles son una zona de tr&aacute;nsito esencial para la construcci&oacute;n y cubren todo el ancho de 55&nbsp;m del puente.
