It is an honour for me to have been appointed as AGF Steel’s new Senior Vice President, Operations, and I am enthusiastic to be able to contribute to AGF’s success and growth.<\/p>\n

These past 2 weeks, I took the opportunity to visit our teams in Longueuil, Ottawa, Québec, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke and Mount Pearl. I will be visiting our Caraquet office in a short while.<\/p>\n

The meetings held with teams from various divisions allowed me to interact with many employees, to share my vision, my values and my priorities, and to identify some of the issues that need to be addressed.<\/p>\n

The nature of our profession requires a high level of flexibility and resilience. Managing the expectations of our customers is a sometimes difficult and demanding task. That is why no-one should hesitate to ask for help if needed. I intend to make regular visits and will remain available in order to provide the necessary support at all levels to ensure our work is successful.<\/p>\n

Passing by Newfoundland<\/h3>\n

Our most distant activity is the Husky project, in Newfoundland. During my visit, I was impressed by the work done by our team: plant configuration and management, hiring and training of local employees, response to urgent site requests, management of inventory provided by the client, etc.<\/p>\n

And then, I was pleasantly surprised to see that two women were working in the plant (10% of local employees).<\/p>\n

Martin Logan had the opportunity to discuss with Natasha, who had previously worked for AGF at the time of the Hebron project (2012-2016). This is what he tells us about the work of this passionate about her job…<\/p>\n

Through the eyes of an employee<\/h3>\n

When Natasha learned that AGF was opening a plant in Newfoundland for the West White Rose platform project, she was very happy and came back immediately to apply. She enjoys working on several machines such as the Shear and operating the overhead crane (which she is currently doing). Her main motivation is her pride in performing at work. I mentioned seeing her smiling in the factory and she said “it’s normal, we have a good working atmosphere and I like my job”.<\/p>\n

According to Natasha, as an individual it is important to learn, grow and improve. Where does she see herself in 5 years? At AGF, growing further and taking on more responsibility to contribute to AGF’s success.<\/p>\n

The place of women in our industry is very important to me and I believe that it contributes positively to the reinforcing steel sector. When will we have a Women’s Day in our industry?<\/p>\n

Aproveché mis primeras dos semanas para visitar a nuestros equipos de Longueuil, Ottawa, Quebec, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke y Mount Pearl. Visitaré nuestras oficinas de Caraquet dentro de algunas semanas.<\/p>\n

Nuestra actividad más lejos es la del proyecto Husky en Terranova. Me impresionó el trabajo realizado por nuestro equipo: organización de la fábrica, contratación y capacitación de los empleados locales, respuesta a las solicitudes urgentes de la obra, gestión del material proporcionado por el cliente, etc.<\/p>\n

Las reuniones con nuestros equipos de las diferentes divisiones me permitieron intercambiar con nuestros empleados, compartir mi visión, mis valores y mis prioridades e identificar ciertos desafíos que deben ser abordados.<\/p>\n

La naturaleza de nuestra profesión exige un elevado nivel de flexibilidad y resiliencia. La gestión de las expectativas de nuestros clientes es una tarea algunas veces difícil y exigente y no se debe dudar para pedir ayuda si es necesario. Planeo realizar visitas regulares y estar disponible y listo para proporcionar el apoyo necesario a todos los niveles para hacer que nuestro trabajo sea un éxito.<\/p>\n

Y luego, me sorprendió gratamente al ver que dos mujeres trabajaban en la planta (el 10% de los empleados locales).<\/p>\n

Martin Logan tuvo la oportunidad de conversar con Natasha, quien había trabajado anteriormente para AGF en el momento del proyecto Hebron (2012-2016). Esto es lo que nos cuenta sobre el trabajo de esta apasionada por su trabajo …<\/p>\n

\nCuando Natasha se enteró de que AGF estaba abriendo una planta en Terranova para el proyecto de la plataforma West White Rose, se sintió muy feliz y regresó de inmediato para presentar la solicitud. A ella le gusta trabajar en varias máquinas, como la cizalla y operar la grúa (que está haciendo actualmente). Su principal motivación es su orgullo por actuar en el trabajo. Mencioné haberla visto sonreír en la fábrica y dijo que “es normal, tenemos un buen ambiente de trabajo y me gusta mi trabajo”.<\/p>\n

Según Natasha, como individuo es importante aprender, crecer y mejorar. ¿Dónde se ve ella en 5 años? En AGF, crecer más y asumir más responsabilidad para contribuir al éxito de AGF.<\/p>\n

El lugar de las mujeres en nuestra industria es muy importante para mí y creo que contribuye positivamente al sector del acero de refuerzo. ¿Cuándo tendremos un Día de la Mujer en nuestra industria?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
