When employees develop an occupational disease or are implicated in a work-related accident, the impacts are felt at many levels.<\/p>\n

On top of having to step down from their duties, injured workers need to adapt their personal activities. They must also deal with a loss of income and diminished physical and\/or psychological abilities. Their contributions to group insurance are impacted as well.<\/p>\n

During the employees’ absence, employers must ensure the continuity of operations. In that sense, recruiting and training replacement employees can be quite a challenge. Depending on the number of claims, CNESST (Quebec), WSIB (Ontario), WHSCC (Newfoundland), and other premium rates can equally be affected.<\/p>\n

It is important to note that employees who receive income replacement indemnities cease to pay contributions to the Régie des rentes du Québec (RRQ), income taxes, etc. In that sense, an impact is also felt at the societal level.<\/p>\n

Cuando se produce un accidente de trabajo o una enfermedad profesional, los impactos se ven en varios niveles.<\/p>\n

Estos son los principales:<\/p>\n

El trabajador lastimado que debe dejar sus funciones en el trabajo, también debe adaptar sus actividades en su vida personal. Debe adaptarse a vivir con una pérdida de ingresos y con capacidades físicas o psicológicas disminuidas. También se produce un impacto en su contribución al seguro colectivo.<\/p>\n

Por su parte, el empleador debe garantizar la continuidad de las operaciones durante la ausencia del empleado. El dolor de cabeza de la contratación y la formación del suplente también forman parte de la ecuación. De acuerdo con el número de reclamaciones, la tasa de cotización a la CNESST (Quebec), la WSIB (Ontario), la WHSCC (Terranova), etc. puede ser afectada.<\/p>\n
