AGF employees can send me questions about the company’s history, projects, social involvement, or any other subject related to the AGF Group.<\/p>\n

This month, I selected a question that was sent by Sam Hammond (Project Coordinator, AGF – Rebar Inc. in Kitchener).<\/p>\n

What does the AGF acronym stand for?<\/h3>\n

When it was established in 1948, the family-run company “Acier Gendron – Gendron Steel” focused primarily on Quebec but also worked on interesting projects in Newfoundland. Its main competitor in the Quebec market was Fertek, whose rebar division was headed by André Morin, Eng.<\/p>\n

In 1999, following a number of difficult years in our industry, discussions between the two companies led to the merger of Fertek’s rebar operations with Acier Gendron, to create a group that could now tackle the rest of the Canadian market—hence the name “Acier Gendron Fertek,” or “AGF.”<\/p>\n

My intention now is to develop AGF’s branding across Canada and even internationally, by standardizing the names and logos of our subsidiaries, for example: Acier AGF, AGF Peru and AGF – Reinforcing Inc.<\/p>\n

¿DE DÓNDE VIENE EL NOMBRE “AGF”?<\/h2>\n

Desde su fundación en 1948, la compañía familiar “Acier Gendron – Gendron Steel” se concentraba en su mayoría en Quebec; sin embargo, realizaba proyectos interesantes en la provincia de Terranova y Labrador. El principal competidor en el mercado de Quebec era la compañía Fertek, dirigida por André Morin, Ing., para la parte de estructura.<\/p>\n

En 1999, después de varios años difíciles en nuestra área, las discusiones entre las dos compañías llevaron a la fusión de las actividades de estructura de Fertek y de Acier Gendronm creando un grupo ahora capaz de atacar el resto del mercado canadiense y de ahí se creó el nombre: “Acier Gendron Fertek” o “AGF”.<\/p>\n

Hoy en día, mi intención es desarrollar el branding<\/em> de AGF en todo Canadá e incluso internacionalmente, adoptando los nombres de filiales y utilizando logotipos uniformizados: por ejemplo: Acier AGF, AGF Perú, AGF Reinforcing, etc.<\/p>\n
