At AGF, we are sensitive to anything that has to do with children. Is it our generosity or a natural desire to help the next generation flourish? Whatever the reason, when the “Fondation des Camps Odyssée” (Odyssee vacation camp Foundation) contacted us recently to request our financial support, we said, “Yes!”<\/p>\n

I am therefore pleased to announce that the AGF Group Foundation will be supporting the Quebec-based Fondation des Camps Odyssée for the next two years. The foundation’s mission is to promote the training and education of young Quebeckers and help them realize their potential.<\/p>\n

In concrete terms, this assistance will sponsor five children from low-income families each year, so they can enjoy the unique experience of a week at camp, with all of its adventures and challenges.<\/p>\n

” I spent my childhood in an underprivileged neighbourhood of Quebec City, where I had hardly any contact with nature, except for a tiny park with a single tree and a little patch of grass. I was raised by a single mother, who had to work extra hard to make ends meet and provide for my brother and me. Given our situation, vacations and outings in nature were a luxury we could not afford, primarily for financial reasons. One day, I was offered a stay at Camp Trois-Saumons: it was one of the best and most formative experiences I’ve ever had.<\/p>\n

During my time there, I discovered a world different from mine, met people from all kinds of backgrounds and experienced new things. The camp helped me develop my leadership, opened me up to the world and to others, as well as enhancing my self-confidence and many other aspects of my personality that are still with me in my adult life.

COMPROMISO CON LA FUNDACIÓN DE “CAMPS ODYSSÉE”<\/strong><\/p>\n

En AGF nos preocupa todo lo relacionado con los niños. ¿Será nuestro gran corazón o una inclinación natural por ayudar a la próxima generación a florecer? Cualquiera que sea la razón, cuando la Fundación de “Camps Odyssée” acudió recientemente a nosotros para pedirnos nuestro apoyo financiero, ¡aceptamos!<\/p>\n

Es por esta razón que me alegra anunciarles que la Fundación Grupo AGF apoyará durante los próximos dos años a la Fundación de “Camps Odyssée”, ubicada en Quebec, cuya misión es promover la formación y la educación de los jóvenes de Quebec, y contribuir a que sean felices.<\/p>\n

Concretamente, esta ayuda patrocinará cada año a cinco niños de medios desfavorecidos y les permitirá vivir una experiencia única por medio de una estancia de una semana en un campamento de vacaciones, la cual les ofrecerá aventuras y desafíos.<\/p>\n

“Crecí y pasé mi juventud en un barrio desfavorecido de la ciudad de Quebec. En ese barrio la naturaleza no era realmente accesible, con excepción de un minúsculo parque con un solo árbol y una pequeña esquina cubierta con césped. Como crecí en una familia monoparental, mi madre tenía que trabajar arduamente para llegar a fin de mes y para que a mi hermano y a mí no nos faltara nada. En este contexto, las vacaciones y las salidas a la naturaleza eran un lujo que no nos podíamos permitir, principalmente por razones financieras. Un día, me ofrecieron una estancia en el campamento Trois-Saumons. ¡Fue una de las experiencias más bellas y formativas de mi vida! <\/em><\/p>\n

Durante esa estancia pude descubrir un mundo diferente al mío, conocer a gente de múltiples horizontes, vivir nuevas experiencias… El campamento me permitió desarrollar mi liderazgo, mi apertura hacia el mundo y hacia los demás, la confianza en mí mismo y muchos otros aspectos de mi personalidad, los cuales todavía conservo en mi vida adulta.<\/em><\/p>\n

Evidentemente, en aquella época no estaba consciente de que esa estancia en el campamento me fue ofrecida gracias a la Fundación de “Camps Odyssée” y a los generosos los donativos.
