What is mental health? <\/h3>\n

The World Health Organization defines mental health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and believes it to be essential to a person’s overall health.
\nWe often hear the term “mental health” in the media, and a growing number of associations and organizations make reference to it. This is proof that we need to address the topic, which can still be shrouded in taboo. Despite advances in awareness, it can still be embarrassing to talk about mental health issues for those affected by them, as well as for those who manage them in the workplace.<\/p>\n

Mental health at AGF Group <\/h3>\n

I’m proud to tell you about the mental health program we are introducing at AGF: the aim is to encourage a healthy, respectful workplace while avoiding stigmatization of mental health issues. We need to be able to demystify mental health so we can adjust ourselves accordingly and provide support to our employees.<\/p>\n

Out of our ongoing desire to develop health and well-being at work, we began by presenting the mental health action plan to our steel sector’s management team in Canada. All of our managers were made aware of this issue through our partner Manulife (AGF Group’s group insurance provider). 
\nIn the coming weeks, details of the program will be presented to the health and safety committees, and then to all employees. The program will be rolled out by local management teams, with support from the Health and Safety and the Human Resources departments. <\/p>\n

Along with this awareness-raising phase, there will be numerous tools to bolster this initiative, including an employee assistance program as well as the sharing of practical, proactive resources. They will be available to everyone on the Group’s intranet as of November 1..<\/p>\n

It should be noted that we are pioneers in developing this type of policy in our industry. Its development and implementation are the results of teamwork, which makes me very proud. The impacts will benefit everyone and, above all, contribute to ensuring a better work environment for us all. <\/p>\n

Establecimiento de una política de salud mental <\/strong><\/p>\n

¿Qué es la salud mental?<\/strong>
\nLa Organización Mundial de la Salud define la salud mental como un estado de completo bienestar físico, mental y social, y estima que es esencial para la salud global de un individuo.
\nEl término “salud mental” se utiliza con frecuencia en los medios de comunicación y cada vez más asociaciones y organismos hacen referencia a él. Esto prueba que existe una necesidad de tratar este tema, el cual algunas veces es todavía tabú.
\nEn efecto, a pesar de los avances en cuanto a la salud mental, creo que todavía las víctimas y las personas que se ocupan de sus expedientes se sienten incómodas al hablar de este tema.<\/p>\n

La implementación en Grupo AGF <\/strong>
\nMe enorgullece hablar del programa de salud mental que se está implementando en AGF. El objetivo es favorecer un medio de trabajo sano y respetuoso, sin estigmatizar la salud mental. Debemos poder desmitificar esta problemática para ajustarnos en consecuencia y ofrecerles apoyo a nuestros empleados.
\nEn su deseo constante de desarrollar la salud y el bienestar en el trabajo, el plan de acción del programa de salud mental fue inicialmente presentado a los miembros de la dirección del sector acero de AGF en Canadá. El conjunto de directivos pudo así sensibilizarse a esta problemática gracias a nuestro socio Manuvie (seguros colectivos de Grupo AGF).<\/p>\n

En las próximas semanas, los detalles del programa serán presentados a los miembros de los comités de salud y seguridad y al conjunto de empleados. Este despliegue se hará a través de las direcciones locales con el apoyo de los departamentos de Salud y Seguridad y de Recursos Humanos.<\/p>\n

Paralelamente a esta fase de sensibilización, numerosas herramientas apoyarán al dispositivo, entre ellas, específicamente, un programa de ayuda a los empleados, así como el reparto de recursos prácticos y proactivos. Estas herramientas estarán a disposición de todos los colaboradores en la Intranet del Grupo, a partir del 1 de noviembre.<\/p>\n

Es necesario saber que somos precursores en el desarrollo de una política como esta en la industria. Su desarrollo y su implementación son el fruto de un trabajo de equipo del que me siento orgulloso. Las consecuencias serán benéficas para todas las partes y, sobre todo, contribuirán a garantizar un mejor medio de trabajo para todos.
