{"id":46404,"date":"2019-12-15T16:24:00","date_gmt":"2019-12-15T21:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/en\/the-network\/uncategorized\/mentoring-program"},"modified":"2024-05-07T15:38:15","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T19:38:15","slug":"mentoring-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/en\/the-network\/human-resources\/mentoring-program","title":{"rendered":"Mentoring Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>In August, the Longueuil, Armabec and Acier AGF plants introduced a mentoring program.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative, headed by the HR department and facilitated in Longueuil by Pierre Colangelo (Operations and Procurement Manager), is intended to help new employees integrate.<\/p>\n<h2>How does it work?<\/h2>\n<p>Mentors volunteer their services: a total of 10 employees were interested in taking part in the program, They took a few days of training, during which they learned different ways of conveying a message and how to characterize the person you are sharing your knowledge with (Are they visual learners, or do they learn better with a hands-on approach?). These are all keys that will make it easier for new recruits to learn.<\/p>\n<h2>Our aim<\/h2>\n<p>Beyond knowledge transfer and sharing of skills, mentoring also helps create team spirit. Mentors will follow their &ldquo;students&rdquo; throughout their career with the company. This will help forge ties and foster trust among team members.<\/p>\n<p>The Longueuil plants are the first to take part in the program and will be followed by the divisions in Trois-Rivi&egrave;res, Quebec City and Ottawa.<\/p>\n<p>The company&rsquo;s long-term goal is to have 80% of its plant employees in Canada become mentors.<\/p>\n<h2>AGF Academy<\/h2>\n<p>In the same vein as mentoring, Pierre Colangelo is working on a project called the AGF Academy.<\/p>\n<p>An area at the plant is set aside for scrap&mdash;essentially, steel returned from worksites because it is non-compliant (e.g. wrong diameter). The scrap will be used to train new employees on techniques such as how to attach a wire and position it safely on the bending machine, read information on a shipping slip, etc. These are all points that new operators need to assimilate quickly. The advantage of having this area is that the pace of work is less intense than in &ldquo;classic&rdquo; production. It will provide new recruits with a quieter setting that is more conducive to learning.<\/p>\n<p>These two projects attest to AFG Group&rsquo;s desire to give priority to learning and employee training.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Ligne_bleue_separation_version_e-2248.jpg\" style=\"height:67px; width:400px\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Desde el mes de agosto de 2019, las f&aacute;bricas de Longueuil, Armabec y Acier AGF implantaron un programa de mentor&iacute;a.<br \/>\nEsta iniciativa, presentada por el departamento de Recursos Humanos e impartida en Longueuil por Pierre Colangelo (Director de Operaciones y Abastecimiento) ha sido implantada para facilitar la integraci&oacute;n de los empleados nuevos.<\/p>\n<h2>&iquest;C&oacute;mo funciona la mentor&iacute;a?<\/h2>\n<p>La selecci&oacute;n de mentores se realiza por medio del voluntariado: en total son diez empleados quienes decidieron formar parte del programa y para ello tomaron una capacitaci&oacute;n de algunos d&iacute;as. Durante este periodo, aprendieron, entre otras cosas, las diferentes maneras de transmitir un mensaje, o incluso c&oacute;mo identificar a la persona a qui&eacute;n le transmitimos nuestros conocimientos (&iquest;es una persona visual? o, por el contrario, &iquest;necesita tocar las cosas para comprender mejor?). Son muchas claves las que nos permitir&aacute;n facilitar el aprendizaje de los nuevos reclutas.<\/p>\n<h2>Nuestro objetivo<\/h2>\n<p>M&aacute;s all&aacute; de transmitir conocimientos y de compartir habilidades, se instaura un esp&iacute;ritu de equipo. De hecho, el mentor seguir&aacute; a su &ldquo;alumno&rdquo; a lo largo de su carrera en la empresa, lo que permitir&aacute; la creaci&oacute;n de un lazo e instaurar&aacute; un ambiente de confianza entre los equipos.<br \/>\nLas f&aacute;bricas de Longueuil son las primeras que forman parte del programa, seguir&aacute;n las divisiones de Trois-Rivi&egrave;res, Quebec y Ottawa.<br \/>\nEl objetivo final de la empresa es tener un 80% de mentores entre sus empleados de f&aacute;brica en Canad&aacute;.<\/p>\n<h2>La Academia AGF<\/h2>\n<p>En la misma l&iacute;nea de la mentor&iacute;a, Pierre Colangelo trabaja en un proyecto titulado la ACADEMIA AGF.<br \/>\nEn las f&aacute;bricas, hay un espacio dedicado para volver a cortar el acero. Se trata esencialmente del acero devuelto de las obras por no ser conformes (p. ej.: di&aacute;metro equivocado). El objetivo es utilizar la escoria para capacitar a los empleados nuevos: unir un pasador, posicionarse de una manera segura en una cortadora, leer la informaci&oacute;n de una orden de entrega, etc. Son muchos los puntos que los nuevos operadores necesitan asimilar. La ventaja de este espacio de corte es que el ritmo de trabajo es menos constante que en el caso de la producci&oacute;n &ldquo;cl&aacute;sica&rdquo;. Esto permitir&aacute; un aprendizaje m&aacute;s tranquilo y eficaz para los nuevos reclutas.<\/p>\n<p>Estos dos proyectos demuestran el deseo de Grupo AGF de formar un buen lugar para el aprendizaje y la capacitaci&oacute;n de la mano de obra.&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In August, the Longueuil, Armabec and Acier AGF plants introduced a mentoring program.
