This month, I’ve selected the following question :<\/p>\n

“What are the current challenges facing the construction industry and AGF in particular?”<\/h3>\n

That’s an excellent question. In my opinion, AGF’s main challenges in the next few years are similar to those facing the construction industry in general.<\/p>\n

First and foremost, there is the ongoing challenge of recruiting, developing and retaining the best talent, which is critically important in these times of labour shortages. Of course, there is the related challenge of grooming the next generation at every level of our organization.<\/p>\n

The construction industry must tackle enormous technological challenges if it is to catch up with other industries. We will have to add new technologies to our value chain, making judicious use of the masses of data we generate, among other things.<\/p>\n

A major challenge will be to find ways to fund massive infrastructure needs at a time when government borrowing and deficits caused by the pandemic make this exercise perilous, to say the least. Our industry depends heavily on major projects for its continued growth.<\/p>\n

At AGF, we also face the challenge of developing a solid strategic plan that will help drive our company toward our goal of being the best reinforcing steel company in Canada and worldwide.<\/p>\n

“¿Cuáles son los desafíos actuales a los que se enfrena la industria de la construcción, particularmente AGF?”<\/h3>\n

Es una excelente pregunta. En mi opinión, los principales desafíos que vamos a enfrentar durante los próximos años en AGF son parecidos a los de la industria de la construcción en general.<\/p>\n

Para empezar, tenemos el desafío permanente de contratar, capacitar y conservar a los mejores talentos y es en especial más importante durante este periodo de escasez de mano de obra. Evidentemente existe el desafío conexo de preparar bien a los sucesores, en todos los niveles de nuestra organización.<\/p>\n

La industria de la construcción se enfrenta a enormes desafíos de orden tecnológico para alcanzar el retraso comparado a todas las demás industrias. Tendremos que integrar nuevas tecnologías en nuestra cadena de valores por medio, entre otras cosas, de la utilización adecuada de la gran cantidad de datos que generamos.<\/p>\n

Uno de los grandes desafíos será encontrar maneras de financiar las enormes necesidades de infraestructura en una época en la que los préstamos y los déficits gubernamentales causados por la pandemia hacen que el ejercicio sea arriesgado. Nuestra industria depende en gran parte de proyectos de gran envergadura para continuar desarrollándose.<\/p>\n

En AGF se añade también el desafío de desarrollar desde ahora un plan estratégico sólido que contribuya a propulsar nuestra empresa hacia nuestro objetivo de ser la mejor empresa de acero de refuerzo en Canadá y posteriormente en otras partes del mundo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
