In the week of September 14, 2020, the Longueuil and Sherbrooke teams joined forces in a major column erection operation for a new bridge in Lambton. This was a colossal undertaking, since we’re talking about columns ranging from 22 to 36 metres weighing more than 13.5 MT. It was all prepared piece by piece in our Longueuil plant, hand-assembled by the Prefab employees in Longueuil and installed by our Armature Sherbrooke steelworkers.<\/p>\n

The Lambton bridge project in the Eastern Townships entails rebuilding a 200-metre steel\/concrete bridge over the Felton River. The contract awarded to Armature Sherbrooke by Construction Longer is for 328 MT of rebar. The project’s major challenges are the marine portion of the work and the installation of the four reinforcing columns inside caissons in the middle of the river.<\/p>\n

A special shout-out to the team on site in Lambton: Jean-François Bourgaul, Dave St-Amant, Patrick Fortier, Éric Levesque, Patrick Houde and Alexandre Neveu.<\/p>\n

The lifting operation was very risky. It took two cranes, one of which was on a barge, to move the columns. The workers pulled together in a great team effort while putting the safety of others first. Congratulations to all for a job well done!<\/p>\n

Construction of the bridge began in June and is slated for completion in summer 2021.<\/p>\n

¡Operación de elevación lograda!<\/h2>\n

En la semana del 14 de septiembre de 2020, los equipos de Longueuil y de Sherbrooke unieron sus esfuerzos durante un importante trabajo para montar las columnas de un nuevo puente que se sitúa en Lambton. La tarea era colosal, ya que hablamos de columnas de 22 a 36 m con un peso de más de 13 t (30 000 lb). Todo fue preparado pieza por pieza en nuestra fábrica de Longueuil, montado a mano por los empleados de prefabricado en Longueuil e instalado por nuestros trabajadores de acero de refuerzo en Sherbrooke.<\/p>\n

El proyecto del puente en Lambton, en Estrie, consiste en reconstruir un puente de acero\/cemento de una longitud de 200 m sobre el río Felton. El contrato que Construction Longer le otorgó a Armature Sherbrooke Inc. es de 328 t de acero de refuerzo. Los desafíos mayores del proyecto son los trabajos marítimos y la instalación de las cuatro columnas de refuerzo en el interior de los casetones en medio del río.<\/p>\n

La tarea de elevación fue muy arriesgada. Eran necesarias dos grúas para desplazar las columnas y una de ellas sobre un pontón.
