Progress on pile 2, Henri-IV Highway and Chemin des Quatre-Bourgeois<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In spring 2021, the project to rebuild the overpasses on Chemin des Quatre-Bourgeois, located above Henri-IV Highway (73) in Quebec City, began with Hamel Construction. This 440-tonne project will be completed in just a few weeks. Our AGF team in Quebec City worked in partnership with Les Armatures EB to ensure the success of the project. Mourad Embarek, our technician\/project manager, was the lead for this great challenge.<\/p>\n

The special feature of this structure is its complex shape. The concrete widens from bottom to top on all four sides, with curves in the concrete. Almost every piece of reinforcement was unique!<\/p>\n

We rarely get to see all the hard work done by our installation teams in the field.<\/p>\n

The photos below show the progress on pile 2, from the footing to the formwork. You’ll notice an impressive number of pins spaced out from the bottom to the top of the pile. Because of the concentration of rebar, our installers advanced by 1,200-mm stages to the final height. Our work was also inspected as it advanced.<\/p>\n
