All over the world, even today, I’m amazed to see the struggle that women encounter in establishing their place and garnering the same respect as men. At AGF, we continue to champion our values, which include a key emphasis on social
\ncommitment.<\/p>\n

For me, it is important that all our employees recognize themselves in our company’s values, regardless of their gender. The international context in recent weeks has brought this to mind.<\/p>\n

More women in construction<\/strong><\/h3>\n

It’s great to see that our sector is heading in the right direction when it comes to the
\nrepresentation of women in construction.<\/p>\n

In late June, La Presse<\/a> [article in French only] reported that there were 6,234 women (3.27% of the active workforce in this industry) on construction sites in Quebec in 2021,
\naccording to the Commission de la construction du Québec. This is 1,361 more than the previous year.<\/p>\n

While it’s pretty obvious that working on the job site to lay reinforcing steel is a huge challenge for women, at AGF we are trying to compensate internally with other important roles, as we presented last year as part of our partnership with Les Elles de la Construction<\/a>*. However, we are noticing that steel placing is also beginning to attract more women. For example, Mahee de Repentigny, named this month in our Thumbs up<\/a>, joined our steel placing team in Ottawa a little over a year ago.<\/p>\n

Indeed, at AGF, 25% of management positions are held by women, which is not enough of course, but it represents a real progression in a profession historically dominated by men.<\/p>\n

Let’s continue to promote AGF’s values together to make the construction world more inclusive.<\/p>\n

Derechos de las mujeres y representatividad<\/p>\n

En todo el mundo, incluso hoy en día, es sorprendente ver la lucha que deben librar las mujeres para abrirse paso y ser respetadas igual que los hombres.<\/p>\n

En AGF, continuamos defendiendo nuestros valores, entre los cuales la entrega social tiene un lugar significativo.<\/p>\n

Para mí es importante que cada uno de nuestros empleados se reconozca en los valores sostenidos por nuestra empresa, cualquiera que sea su género. El contexto internacional de las últimas semanas me impulsa a recordarlo.<\/p>\n

Más mujeres en la construcción<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Esta es una gran oportunidad de constatar que nuestro sector está experimentando una evolución en la dirección correcta respecto a la representatividad de las mujeres en la construcción.<\/p>\n

A finales del mes pasado, se leía en La Presse<\/a> que 6234 mujeres (3.27% de la mano de obra activa en esta industria) estuvieron presentes en una obra de construcción en Quebec durante el año 2021, de acuerdo con la Comisión de la construcción de Quebec. Son 1361 más que el año pasado.<\/p>\n
