Our Trois-Rivières division recently marked an exceptional year and set new records. With a steady increase in the size and number of projects, the Trois-Rivières team of placers is larger than ever, growing from 18 workers to nearly 30 to meet growing demand.<\/p>\n

Trois-Rivières is currently involved in several major projects, including construction of the GM Posco plant in Bécancour, the Piles Bridge in Shawinigan and a heavy industrial project in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.<\/p>\n

The GM Posco plant in Bécancour<\/strong><\/h3>\n

AGF is proud to play a key role in the construction of this site, which will consist of several buildings: the Cam 1, the Trestle, the Switch House (an electrical building), the Pump House (a building designed to house two tanks) and an administrative building.<\/p>\n

For the Cam 1 building, AGF helped lay the foundations in phase 1 of the project. We are now working on phase 2, during which a slab is currently under construction.  <\/p>\n

AGF faced a number of challenges in the construction of this building. Firstly, the frequent changes to the design required AGF to demonstrate great flexibility and exceptional adaptability. Another challenge was night work.  To ensure worker safety and avoid the risks associated with working simultaneously with another team installing huge steel girders on the upper level, AGF’s teams opted for night work, a decision that proved essential to the overall safety of the site.<\/p>\n

Piles Bridge in Shawinigan <\/strong><\/h3>\n

In the city of Shawinigan, AGF is also involved in the construction of the new Piles Bridge, which will cross the Saint-Maurice River. This 780-metric-ton steel project is scheduled for completion in 2025, with the bulk of the work scheduled for 2024. The complexity lies in the construction of the invert supporting the bridge arch, which requires a high concentration of steel. Another challenge is the limited space on site, which is forcing AGF workers to rethink their methods of building the bridge’s steel structures.<\/p>\n

A major industrial project in Abitibi-Témiscamingue<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Trois-Rivières division is also playing a key role in the construction of a heavy industrial project in Abitibi, where it has already completed around 30% of the work. To date, a notable challenge has been the completion of an initial 60-ton invert. After laying the invert, our teams were asked to raise it by 2 inches. It was therefore necessary to dismantle the top of the invert in order to add thicknesses of reinforcing steel and higher chairs. <\/p>\n

In the near future, another imposing 140-ton invert will also be built. This one also represents a challenge due to its irregular checkerboard shape, which complicates its design and construction.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to the Trois-Rivières division for a record year, and for its exceptional contribution to major projects that highlight its exemplary ability to adapt to new challenges!<\/p>\n

Nuestra división de Trois-Rivières logró recientemente un año excepcional y estableció récords. Con un aumento constante del tamaño y del número de proyectos, el equipo de instaladores de Trois-Rivières es más numeroso que nunca y pasa de 18 trabajadores a casi 30 para responder a la creciente demanda.<\/p>\n

Actualmente, Trois-Rivières participa en varios proyectos importantes, entre ellos la construcción de la fábrica GM Posco en Bécancour, el puente de Piles en Shawinigan y un proyecto industrial pesado en Abitibi-Témiscamingue.<\/p>\n

La fábrica de GM Posco en Bécancour<\/strong><\/h3>\n

AGF se enorgullece de desempeñar un papel esencial en la construcción de este sitio, que constará de varios edificios: Cam 1, Trestle, Switch House (un edificio eléctrico), Pump House (un edificio diseñado para albergar dos tanques) y un edificio administrativo.<\/p>\n

En el caso del edificio Cam 1, durante la fase 1 del proyecto, AGF había contribuido a la elaboración de los cimientos. Ahora estamos trabajando en la fase 2, durante la cual se están construyendo varias losas.<\/p>\n

Para la construcción de este edificio, AGF tuvo que superar algunos desafíos. En primer lugar, los frecuentes cambios de diseño exigieron que AGF demostrara una gran flexibilidad y una capacidad de adaptación excepcional. A continuación, otro desafío fue el trabajo nocturno. Para garantizar la seguridad de los trabajadores y evitar los riesgos asociados al trabajo simultáneo con otro equipo que colocaba enormes vigas de acero en el piso superior, los equipos de AGF optaron por el trabajo nocturno, una decisión que resultó esencial para la seguridad global de la obra.<\/p>\n

El puente de Piles en Shawinigan<\/strong><\/h3>\n

En la ciudad de Shawinigan, AGF también participa en la construcción del nuevo puente Piles que cruzará el río Saint-Maurice. La finalización de este proyecto de 780 t de acero está prevista para el 2025, con la mayor parte de las obras previstas para el 2024. La complejidad radica en la construcción del radier que sostiene el arco del puente, el cual requiere una gran concentración de acero. Además, otro desafío es el espacio limitado en el sitio que obliga a los trabajadores de AGF a replantear sus métodos de construcción de estructuras de acero de puentes.<\/p>\n

Un proyecto industrial pesado en Abitibi-Témiscamingue<\/strong><\/h3>\n

La división de Trois-Rivières también desempeña un papel clave en la construcción de un proyecto industrial pesado en Abitibi, en donde ya ha ejecutado alrededor del 30% de las obras. Hasta ahora, un reto importante ha sido la realización de un primer radier de 60 t. Después de colocarlo, se les pidió a nuestros equipos que lo elevaran dos pulgadas. Por lo tanto, fue necesario desmontar la parte superior del radier para añadir capas de acero de refuerzo y camillas más altas.<\/p>\n

Próximamente, se construirá también otro impresionante radier de 140 t. También representa un desafío debido a su forma irregular de tablero cuadriculado, lo que complica su diseño y su construcción.<\/p>\n
