Although the format of the festivities was generally the same from one location to another, I was fascinated to see how different they all were and, in the end, how well they demonstrated the diversity of “personalities” across our Canadian divisions. The only two things they had in common: a luncheon and a cake in AGF colours. Incidentally, Maxime and I have become veritable “machines” when it comes to cutting and serving slices of cake.

A guided tour:

In Quebec City, the team was undeterred by the extreme heat. BBQ, a “washer” tournament where we discovered Serge Gendron’s immense talent for this activity. A photobooth, and a very festive mood into the early evening.

In Trois-Rivières, same story and same heat, with just a bit more shade and two refreshing pools for the beverages (and a little for the participants!). Serge’s revenge and victory with the “washer.”

In Longueuil, the threat of a tornado didn’t dampen the enthusiasm at the party, with games and a generous spread, under the watchful eye of our in-house BBQ chefs. The tent had less staying power than our team, succumbing after the second storm of the afternoon.

In Sherbrooke, mouth-watering pizzas and a cozy, relaxed atmosphere. The photo gallery was much appreciated, especially when we spotted a former colleague now based in Calgary.

In Dartmouth, we’re big fans of the local pizzas, which combine flavours inspired by the different cultures that have settled here. The plant served as a perfect gathering place. Watch out for flying axes (plastic, fortunately), as we’ve found that axe-throwing calls for a lot of concentration to do it safely.

In Caraquet, we were treated to a seafood feast, and even the mayor came by to celebrate. He left with a (temporary) AGF tattoo on his hand and a promise to invite us all to the opening of the new arena the team is working on.

In Ottawa, we also paid tribute to the local team’s efforts in implementing the new Oracle system, and neither the wind nor the clouds dampened the friendly mood. Jenga was very popular, with one game lasting over 20 minutes.

In Val Caron, the plant’s team members wanted to thank Dana for bringing in quality work – they pulled off the surprise! The meal was intimate, and even the balloons joined in the conversation, bursting at regular intervals.

In Scarborough, the plant was so spotless that I ate my lunch at a folding table (yes, it’s true!). We also took advantage of the electric atmosphere to play some games that may or may not go down in history, but that definitely brought us together.

In London, the rural setting of our facilities and a generous and varied buffet made the celebration feel like a Sunday afternoon. I was also treated to a private tour to check out the plant. A perfect day.

In Kitchener, we cut the ribbon to officially open the new plant, dubbed the “Rebar Palace,” and took advantage of the silent auction to launch AGF’s newest activity—making décor items out of rebar. I don’t know if we’ll break into this market niche …

In Port Coquitlam, the party took over the entire office, with activities in every nook and cranny, from the buffet in one corridor and the dining area in the conference room (I had no idea it could seat so many people!), to another corridor for games. There was also a photo contest; the best ones were printed in giant format and have been proudly featured on the walls ever since.

In Chilliwack, the mountainous backdrop added a dreamy touch to the setting, where we pitched a huge tent and enjoyed an amazing buffet! I had some rewarding encounters with committed people.

And, last but not least, in Calgary, we were so comfortable in under the tent with our heaters and coats you’d have thought it was 30 degrees out, singing along and having fun taking photos. As a bonus, we all received a specially decorated AGF cookie, a nice finishing touch to an incredible tour.

The gist of my message: thank you for being who you are and giving life to AGF in your own way.
Click here to see photos of the events.

Catherine Gendron

Catherine Gendron

To mark AGF’s 75th anniversary, we took advantage of the summer and fall to celebrate […]

[217

post-49316","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-general-interest
["GET
