The project…<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This year, our team in Trois-Rivières has been working on the Pont des Piles construction site.
\nThis is located in Shawinigan, at the junction of Highway 55 and Route 155 (towards Haute-Mauricie and Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean). The project involves some 775 metric tons of reinforcing steel.<\/p>\n

For AGF, the bridge reconstruction project began in September with the fabrication of 2 large inverts on axis 3 and 8, which will serve as a solid, stable base for the large 75-foot high columns supporting the crosshead.<\/p>\n

Stéphane Grandmaison, who recently moved up from foreman to superintendent, was immediately on board!<\/p>\n

A great opportunity for him to share his knowledge. The reason his role is so important in this project is that he ensures the smooth running of the work throughout the entire process. He also plans the manpower required to meet delivery deadlines, and coordinates the work with the other parties involved in the project. His strengths: Over 23 years’ experience as a placer, including 18 as foreman.<\/p>\n

All in all, some twenty employees are involved, on a more or less regular basis, in the invert work on each of the riverbanks.<\/p>\n

The challenges<\/strong><\/p>\n

And there were plenty of them! Indeed, on February 3, 2023, a complete closure of the bridge was recommended due to the excessive deterioration of the deck. Some 11,600 vehicles use this road every day. As a result, we carried out deck reinforcement work and added a column of reinforcement mounted before work began on the bridge. Also, during the project, the abutments to support the bridge slab were a technical challenge.<\/p>\n

Este año, nuestro equipo de Trois-Rivières ha trabajado en las obras del Pont des piles.<\/p>\n

El puente está situado en Shawinigan, en el cruce de la Autoroute 55 y la Route 155 (en dirección a Haute-Mauricie y Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean). El proyecto incluye unas 775 toneladas métricas de acero de refuerzo.<\/p>\n

En total, supervisa a una veintena de empleados que participan, de forma más o menos regular, en los trabajos de inversión de cada uno de los bancos.<\/p>\n

Los retos<\/strong><\/p>\n

Y había muchos. El 3 de febrero de 2023 se recomendó el cierre completo del puente debido a los daños excesivos sufridos por el tablero. Alrededor de 11.600 vehículos utilizan esta carretera cada día. En consecuencia, realizamos trabajos de refuerzo en el tablero y añadimos una columna de refuerzo instalada antes de que empezaran las obras en el puente. Además, durante el proyecto, los estribos para soportar la losa del puente supusieron un reto técnico.<\/p>\n
