In Northern Ontario, in the community of Connaught, AGF Rebar\u2019s teams are contributing to the rehabilitation of the Frederick House Lake Dam, in collaboration with Stuart Olson. This project highlights the importance of maintaining critical infrastructure while showcasing the expertise and adaptability of our teams in complex environments.<\/p>\n
The Frederick House Lake Dam rehabilitation project involves upgrading key structural elements, including piers, sluiceways (canals to let the water flow) and bulkheads (hermetic walls), with a total of over 200 metric tons of rebar required.<\/p>\n
The work is carried out in highly confined areas within the sluiceways and pier sections, where reinforcement is both dense and multi-layered. This level of congestion requires extremely precise rebar placement and close coordination to ensure constructability.<\/p>\n
AGF teams also had to demonstrate a high level of adaptability to work within the existing structure. The project required custom bar shapes, specifically developed to match the non-standard shape of the piers.<\/p>\n
In addition, drilled dowels were used to anchor new reinforcement into the existing concrete, ensuring proper connection and structural continuity between old and new elements.<\/p>\n
Since AGF\u2019s involvement began in July 2023, the project has progressed steadily. Today, all major components, including the piers and sluiceways, have been completed. The remaining work consists of minor bulkhead interventions and upstream activities, scheduled for completion in the summer of 2026, marking the final phase of the project.<\/p>\n
