{"id":68407,"date":"2026-07-01T12:09:55","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T16:09:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/?p=68407"},"modified":"2026-07-01T12:10:03","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T16:10:03","slug":"fondacier-2026-polytechnique-foundation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/groupeagf.com\/en\/the-network\/foundation\/fondacier-2026-polytechnique-foundation","title":{"rendered":"FondAcier 2026 &#8211; Builders of Tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On May 14, our FondAcier fundraising evening brought together the extended AGF family, partners and committed industry leaders around a shared ambition: building a better future.<\/p>\n<p>Under the honorary presidency of Maud Cohen, President and CEO of Polytechnique Montr\u00e9al, the event carried special significance in a place deeply connected to AGF\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>It was at Polytechnique Montr\u00e9al that it all began in 1948, when Laurent Gendron completed his engineering studies with a bold idea: to specialize in reinforcing steel, a field that did not yet exist in Canada. Supported by a professor who believed in him and even lent him the funds needed to get started, he founded AGF. The early days were humble and people-focused. Teams would gather each morning on a park bench in Parc Lafontaine to plan the day\u2019s projects together.<\/p>\n<p>Today, the connection with Polytechnique remains stronger than ever. In that spirit, Serge Gendron announced a <span style=\"color: #165788;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #165788;\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/SPKDA10iLGQ?si=HxKYEor8HaHyhq5K\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">major commitment of $1.5 million over 10 years<\/a><\/strong><\/span> to support students, research and innovation, helping Polytechnique educate the builders of tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>The evening unfolded in a bright and welcoming atmosphere designed to encourage meaningful conversations. Highlights included a train car transformed into a museum and an engineers\u2019 table, offering guests a unique perspective on the reinforcing steel industry and the projects carried out by AGF.
