AGF in Central America

This past July, the first tonne of steel was manufactured at our plant in San José in Costa Rica.  Under the supervision of Robert Acuña Rocha and in collaboration with ArcelorMittal Costa Rica, AGF plans to become a major player in this country, whose economy is growing. 

Once again, the project, which was built from the ground up, was completed with the contribution from several of AGF Group’s divisions. Robert had just completed a two-year assignment on Autoroute 30, after working on Dubai’s elevated metro. Pierre Colangelo supervised the purchase and delivery of equipment. Gabriel Bonin contributed his two cents’ worth, developing the budgets and the plant layout. Suzanne Larivière, Mark Clarke and Anne Charest supervised the legal and banking aspects of the project.  Dave Panesar spontaneously agreed to send a complete cutting line (Don’t worry, Dave: it will soon be replaced in Kitchener!) and Eric St-Amant also gave up some equipment so that production could start up quickly. Sébastien Lamoureux was in charge of setting up the new facility’s IT needs. Claudio Rebolledo, Eng., Technician-Project Manager in Longueuil, travelled to Costa Rica to train local technicians.  Everyone did their part to ensure the success of this latest addition to the AGF family.
