Holiday Season

The holiday season is a time of great joy and festivity, but it can also bring about a lot of stress and pressure, as we are all working hard in order to make it to the finish line and start the New Year on the right note.

In addition to our work, we need to think about gifts, to prepare for our family reunions, and to organize our Christmas dinner. In short, this is a time when we are more distracted, as we have many things on our minds. Nevertheless, it is important to stay focused in order to avoid getting injured at work. If you are injured and are unable to work, you will be missed by all of us here at AGF. Your health and safety is important to us and we need each one of you to be in top shape to start the next year!

I want to take this opportunity to wish you a safe and happy holiday season. The next year will be filled with challenges and I want to take them up with all of you!

Here are some tips my Human Resources colleagues and I would like to share in order to help you enjoy yourself this holiday season:

Delegate

You don’t’ have to be in charge of everything! For example, put your spouse or your children in charge of decorating the house, wrapping the gifts, or baking the Christmas cookies.

Avoid Excesses

There is great temptation to indulge in high-calorie meals. Remember that moderation is the key to maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

Avoid Guilt

Don’t compare yourself to others. Remember that the size of your gifts is not a true measure of your generosity or selflessness, and that it is unreasonable to try to accommodate your schedule in order to meet everyone’s needs. What really matters is spending time with your loved ones and enjoying every moment. Don’t forget that even a modest gift can put a big smile on a person’s face.

Take Credit for Your Accomplishments

When under stress, we sometimes tend to depreciate ourselves. To address this issue, focus on what went well rather than on what you think you could have gone better. For example, accept compliments that emphasize your organizational skills if you held a dinner party.

Set Aside Time for Yourself

Whether it’s taking a bath or reading a book, use your free time to do things that are important to you, even if it’s just 15 minutes a day.

Stay Active

In addition to being great for your health, exercise can help you get rid of stress and put your worries aside. In order to stay healthy during this period of festivities, it is suggested that you increase your level of physical activity. This will enable you to come back in your best physical shape and to start 2019 on the right foot!

Época de fiestas

Ya estamos en la época de fiestas. Esta hermosa época festiva también puede ser estresante ya que trabajamos arduamente para llegar al fin del mes y estar listos para comenzar bien el año entrante.

Además del trabajo, también están los obsequios, la preparación de las reuniones familiares y las comidas navideñas. En breve, es un periodo en el que la concentración tal vez no esté al máximo ya que tenemos muchas cosas en mente, tanto profesionales como personales. Sin embargo, es justamente importante permanecer concentrado para no ser víctima de un accidente de trabajo. Un empleado que se lastima y que no puede iniciar su trabajo, es un empleado que hará falta en AGF. Su salud y seguridad es importante para nosotros ¡y necesitamos de cada uno de ustedes para iniciar el próximo año!

Quiero aprovechar la ocasión para desearles una hermosa época de fiestas de manera segura. El próximo año estará lleno de desafíos ¡que deseo realizar con todos ustedes!

A continuación, mis colegas de Recursos Humanos y yo les compartimos algunos consejos para pasar una hermosa época de fiestas.

Delegue: ¡No tiene por qué ser quien se ocupe de todo! Asígnele a su pareja o a sus hijos algunas tareas, ya sea decorar la casa, envolver regalos u hornear galletas navideñas.

Cuidado con los excesos: La tentación es grande durante las fiestas para ingerir alimentos ricos en calorías. Piense en mantener hábitos de vida sanos a pesar de todo.

Elimine la culpabilidad: No mida su generosidad, su disponibilidad y sus obsequios con los de los demás. Es importante pasar tiempo con sus seres queridos y aprovechar cada momento. Incluso un obsequio modesto puede poner una gran sonrisa en el rostro de quien lo recibe.

Tome crédito por lo que hace: Con el estrés, algunas personas tienden a desvalorizarse y a humillarse. Para evitarlo, concéntrese en lo que salió bien en vez de en lo que le hubiese gustado hacer de otra manera. Acepte los halagos y que lo feliciten si organizó una hermosa recepción.

Reserve tiempo para usted: Ya sea tiempo para tomar un buen baño o para leer un libro, aproveche de esta época para hacer cosas que son importantes para usted, aunque sea 15 minutos diarios.

Manténgase activo: Además de ser excelente para su salud, el ejercicio puede ayudarlo a olvidar el estrés y a dejar sus preocupaciones a un lado. Además, para mantenerse saludable durante esta época de festividades, se recomienda incrementar el número de actividades físicas. Estará más en forma ¡para iniciar el 2019 con el pie derecho!
