Since 1983, the MNP Community & Sports Centre, formerly known as Lindsay Park, has been a downtown Calgary landmark. Situated near Stampede Park, the BMO Centre, Victoria Park LRT Station and the Event Centre, this iconic hub has long been at the heart of the city. AGF is proud to play a role in its transformation, creating a modern destination for recreation, gatherings and family experiences.
A new era for the aquatic facilities
The Leisure Expansion Aquatics Project (LEAP) goes beyond renovation, transforming the centre into a dynamic, family-friendly aquatic hub. Set to open in 2027, the upgraded centre will feature:
- Lazy river for relaxation
- Thrilling water slides for all ages
- Tot pool with play structure for younger children
- Modern hot tubs for unwinding
- Universal change rooms designed for accessibility
Tackling construction challenges
Building a high-profile community and sports centre comes with its hurdles. Coordinating work in a busy, publicly accessible space demands strategic planning and scheduling, close collaboration with Bird Construction and precision in workflow to reduce overtime, all while keeping safety as the top priority.
Currently about 40% completed, the team is focusing on columns, slabs and elevator walls, shaping the spaces where people will enjoy the upgraded facility for decades.
AGF’s commitment to quality
“We’re proud to be part of this project, working on the MNP Community & Sports Centre alongside key landmarks. It’s exciting to contribute to lasting infrastructure that benefits the city for years to come.” -Kevin Quinn, Sales Manager, AGF Calgary
Every aspect of the construction reflects AGF’s commitment to quality, safety and sustainability. From structural columns to finishing touches, the team is creating a modern, welcoming hub for families in Calgary.
