At AGF, leadership development is not a checkbox exercise. It’s a strategic investment, because the performance, safety and quality of our operations are directly driven by the strength of our leaders.
That’s why we launched a structured leadership development program designed to equip our managers today and prepare the leaders of tomorrow.
A first cohort that set the momentum
Last year, around forty leaders (mid-level managers and senior leaders) completed the very first cohort of the program.
The journey began with a SuccessFinder psychometric assessment, followed by a one-on-one debrief with Humance experts, helping each participant gain a deeper understanding of their leadership style and development opportunities.
They then completed a 16-hour development journey, including a 90-minute debrief, combining learning and real-world application:
- Self-awareness and high-impact communication
- Managerial courage, team development and strategic thinking
- In-person and virtual cohort sessions
- Practical tools (1-pagers linked to modules and LinkedIn Learning)
- Open discussions among leaders on real operational challenges
Leaders who become ambassadors
This first cohort now plays a key role in the next phase of the program. These leaders are becoming ambassadors of leadership development at AGF, supporting their peers and embodying expected leadership behaviours on the ground.
‘‘At AGF, we think long term. By investing in a train-the-trainer approach, we are building the internal expertise needed to deliver and sustain this program for future cohorts. The goal is simple: build a leadership culture that is lived, not just a program that is delivered.”
– Olivier Bérubé, Senior Organizational Development Advisor
2026–2027: from foundation to expansion
The next cohort, scheduled for Q3 2026, will go even further. It will target front-line administrative leaders, as well as shop and field leaders.
This next phase is being designed with a strong focus on operational reality:
- short, practical, bite-sized formats
- learning embedded in day-to-day work
- peer co-development
- sharing real experiences, not long virtual training sessions
Because on a jobsite or in operations, leadership is not developed in a classroom. It’s developed in action.
A culture built step by step
At AGF, we don’t just train managers. We are building a culture where leadership develops over time, is shared among peers and is rooted in our day-to-day work.
