On April 27, Catherine Gendron, Head of Culture and Governance at AGF Group and President of the AGF Group Foundation, took up the challenge of shaving her head as part of Leucan’s Audacieuses initiative. This symbolic gesture is aimed at supporting children with cancer and their families, as well as raising public awareness of the cause.
A thoughtful, sincere commitment
Initially, Catherine couldn’t see herself taking such a step, as she had no direct connection with pediatric cancer. However, this lack of personal connection made her realize how lucky she was. She then decided to turn this realization into concrete action.
“I realized then that this wasn’t just a pediatric cancer issue, but a cause that affects families and society as a whole. When someone asks you for help, it’s a gift of trust. It’s a form of recognition. So we say YES!” she confided to Leucan’s teams.
By shaving her head, Catherine has chosen to take up Leucan’s cause in a visible and assertive way. She expressed some apprehension about the reactions of those around her, but decided not to hide her gesture:
“With shaved hair, I’m going to carry the cause with me at all times. I admit I’m apprehensive about the reaction of people who’ve known me with my long hair for years. But I dared to say yes, so there’s no question of wearing a wig or extensions. I completely accept my decision.”
Thanks to her determination and the support of her network, Catherine contributed to the success of the Audacieuses 2025 campaign. Indeed, some of her colleagues also agreed to shave their hair to support her through fund-raising activities. These funds will be used to support children with cancer and their families throughout their journey.
Even though the campaign was a resounding success, the fight goes on! So if you’d like to support Leucan’s “Têtes rasées” Challenge, there’s still time to participate in Catherine’s fundraising campaign. Click here to make a donation and help us.
