About the AGF Group Foundation
The AGF Group Foundation aims to give back to the communities where the AGF Group is present in Canada, to create bounds among the employees and partners of the Group, and in general, to help develop a culture of philanthropy.
At the origin of the Foundation, there is a desire to come together to make a difference in the community.
The philanthropic culture evolved within the company with the implementation of payroll deduction in favor of CENTRAIDE in the 1990s.
In 2012, Serge Gendron wanted to give greater impetus to the philanthropic movement and then created the AGF Group Foundation, which allows AGF employees to get involved in organizations in their community.
Over the years, the Foundation has been structured, fine-tuned its organization and continued to develop: up to 100 fundraisers are now organized each year and support 120 charities.
2020 marks a turning point in the history of the Foundation: the AGF Group won two Awards recognizing its social involvement:
Since 2012, AGF Group Foundation has given back $2.9 M to the community.
This is the number of organizations that have benefited from the Foundation’s support since its creation
Since 2012, employees have organized 510 fundraising events.
This is the record number of fundraising activities organized by employees during the year 2018-2019.
Thanks to the “Du Coeur au Ventre” operation, set up in May 2020, we raised $ 191,000 which will be donated to charities in Canada.
This Foundation offers scholarships to several students, as well as financial support to develop an entrepreneurial culture and innovation at the University of Montreal and at Polytechnique Montreal.
The AGF Group Foundation has signed a 10-year agreement with them.
Its mission is to feed people in need and to develop culinary education for young people.
Thanks to the contribution of the AGF Group Foundation since 2014, the culinary brigades program is now available in 10 schools in Canada, and we have enabled them to finance their online brokerage platform
The AGF Group Foundation is proud to support CAMH through a 5-year agreement. This is the largest mental health teaching hospital in Canada.
Each year, more than 3,000 doctors, clinicians, researchers and teachers provide clinical care to more than 34,000 patients. This is to say how essential their role is to our community.
Thanks to this Foundation, underprivileged young people with significant social, emotional and family problems will have the support they need to achieve their academic ambitions and thus have the chance to grow forward in order to build a promising future.
The AGF Group Foundation is happy to support them through a 5-year agreement.
Thanks to donations, the Hospital Foundation finances: The purchase of cutting-edge technology equipment, the modernization of medical facilities, the deployment of research, the development of teaching and the improvement of medical teams.
The Board of Directors is made up of 10 people, including 3 external members who define the Foundation’s strategic orientations. :
Currently, the Foundation has 24 ambassadors located in our business units in Canada. They are the true voice of the Foundation and participate in finding dynamic ways to grow it in their division: organizing fundraisers, developing partnerships with local organizations, etc.
An active member of family succession, Catherine Gendron, Head of Organizational Culture of the AGF Group, has been responsible for the general management of the Foundation since 2014.
By its dynamism, it makes it grow vigorously, year after year.
It is with the feeling of being indebted and the desire to give back to communities that Serge Gendron, a philanthropist at heart, created the Foundation in 2012.
