Each year, the AGF Group Foundation commits to donating a fixed sum annually to the organizations with which it has made long-term commitments, typically ranging from 3 to 10 years.
Since the Foundation’s inception in 2012, each of these commitments has a singular story. Today, we’ve decided to tell you a few of them.
Serge Gendron, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors at AGF and President of the AGF Group Foundation, studied at Polytechnique before deciding to get involved as much as possible in his community.
For him, there’s nothing more important than training the next generation in the techniques of tomorrow. What a challenge!
As for our major donation, it aims to encourage students who have an idea for an entrepreneurial project to carry it out within the Entrepreneurship Centre.
This year, the AGF Group Foundation decided to support the Université de Sherbrooke’s Pôle de recherche en entrepreneuriat (Faculty of Engineering and School of Management).
The Pôle de recherche en entrepreneuriat will enable diversified and current research in the entrepreneurial field, focusing on three key themes: female entrepreneurship, technological and scientific entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurial failure. Causes we are delighted to support.
Horizon Center is a second home where the essential needs of people with disabilities are met. It is a place of well-being and excellence serving families.
Their teams are working on a project to renovate the Pavillon Manoir: an adapted living environment in the heart of the resort on Île St-Bernard (10 rooms, 12 respite beds, 1 day activity room). The Foundation is currently supporting the center in this exciting development project.
Since 2014, La Tablée des Chefs has partnered with the AGF Group Foundation for its major annual event.
Together, we’ve managed to raise a lot of money through our benefit dinners and cocktails.
We also fund the Culinary Brigades Program in various schools across Canada.
One of the Foundation’s best stories! Several AGF employees have told us about the positive impact CAMH has had on their lives.
They subsequently drew our attention to this incredible, cutting-edge hospital. In recent years, we have been involved in the development of the Business Leaders program, which raises awareness in the business community about the importance of mental health among their employees.
We are now in the process of renewing our multi-year commitment.
Jason Pino, a former employee of our AGF plant in Ottawa, decided to found and run this socio-humanitarian organization in his own time.
And so, a beautiful story was born! Gradually, the Ottawa team began to organize fundraisers to support the project! The organization, dedicated to helping marginalized and/or exploited homeless youth aged 16 to 24, has grown rapidly. Today, our commitment enables Restoring Hope to fund a program to help young women in the Ottawa area escape the sex trade.
We support many other organizations, including: 360 Kids, Canada Canadian Society, TEPF, YWCA, Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.
