AGF Steel took part in the construction of the new bridge linking the cities of Brossard and Montreal by crossing the St. Lawrence River.
It was on June 24, 2019 that residents were able to cross the new Samuel-De Champlain Bridge.
In November 2015, AGF Steel signed an agreement to supply and install reinforcing steel with Signature sur le Saint-Laurent Construction. The deal covered nearly 20,000 tonnes of 500W grade reinforcing steel, including 4,500 tonnes of stainless steel.
Because of its size, the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge represented a major challenge that the entire AGF team successfully met: a tight schedule, an intense pace of preparation of shop drawings, manufacturing and execution. and work at height, including two towers (170 m high) for the cable-stayed section (MST: Main Span Towers).
Some of the cages for the tower sections were prefabricated on-site, which accelerated the installation of the rest of the reinforcing steel. This approach was appreciated by the client and saved time on the work schedule.
With a team of 75 iron workers, 20 workers in the manufacturing plant and 31 engineers and technicians involved in this project, AGF Steel has once again demonstrated its very high level of professionalism, its great competence, its skill in the field of rebar and its ability to meet the most rigorous requirements in the most demanding projects.
