On September 26, the AGF Group Foundation hosted its Annual General Meeting. It was an opportunity to share some fresh updates about a foundation that, for the past 12 years, has reinvested over $4.4 million into the Canadian community, thanks to the commitment of all employees.
Catherine Gendron, AGF Group’s Chief of Organizational Culture, highlights the key points from this meeting:
$4.4 million is fantastic… and I have more good news for you!
First, I would like to highlight the arrival of Mike Marcello to our board of directors. Mike is the Director of Operations for the Greater Toronto Area at AGF Rebar. His close involvement in operations will help us connect with the people on the ground within our organization.
Secondly, we announced that my role within the AGF Group Foundation is going to evolve. After a little over 10 years as the General Director of the Foundation, I will transition to the Board of Directors to assist Serge Gendron and the other seven members in the strategic planning of the Foundation.
What does this mean? The Foundation is seeking a new individual to manage its daily operations and support its growth.
And yes, we are indeed talking about growth! Since its inception, the Foundation has seen more than 740 activities organized by employees and has supported over 300 different organizations. I have traveled across Canada more than a dozen times to recognize all the initiatives and commitments that our employees have made over time. A prime example is Foundation Week, which the ambassadors organize annually.
Returning to our Annual General Meeting, which saw participation from over 160 people, it was also a chance to hear from some of the organizations that received a one-time donation of $75,000 to celebrate AGF’s 75th anniversary. We were able to see the tangible results supported by our efforts. When I think that all of this originates from a simple idea, from someone suggesting we get involved with one organization or another, it gives me chills and inspires me even more to help grow this wonderful foundation. I hope you will be part of the adventure for the coming year.
