AGF Group Foundation sets a new record

In recent months, I have been conducting a study to compare AGF Group Foundation with other private Canadian foundations. So far, I have not found one other foundation that uses the same model as we do, i.e. using it as a tool to bring employees together to organize fundraising activities and then redistribute the funds raised to charities of their choice. If employees wish to provide specific assistance to an organization in their community, the Foundation provides them with the means to do so and matches the amount raised to further reward them for their efforts.

Since I began my involvement with the Foundation, I’ve had the good fortune to work with AGF Group employees who volunteer their time and energy. They take the initiative to organize fundraisers, based on their—from barbecues and theme days or lunches to ping-pong tournaments, clothing and food drives, sports days and car shows. A wide variety of organizations have received support, but for the most part, our employees are interested in social and humanitarian causes.

In looking back over our most recent year (which ended March 31), I was very surprised to see the number of initiatives organized. A total of 83 different activities were presented—a record! This is 20 more than last year.

Beyond the pride I feel in this achievement, I also see it as proof that the Foundation is indeed responding to a need to work together and make a difference. Congratulations to all of our ambassadors, who are able to rally the support of their colleagues and make good use of their creativity. And thanks to all those who participate and take an interest in the Foundation. 

Un nuevo récord en la Fundación Grupo AGF

Durante los últimos meses, tuve que realizar una investigación para comparar la Fundación Grupo AGF con las otras fundaciones privadas canadienses. Hasta el momento no he encontrado otra que utilice el mismo modelo que el nuestro; es decir, servir como herramienta para que los empleados organicen entre ellos actividades de recaudación de fondos, para después redistribuir el dinero recaudado entre los organismos de beneficencia de su elección. En resumen, si alguien quiere ayudar de una manera precisa a un organismo de su comunidad, la Fundación le otorga los medios para hacerlo e iguala el monto recaudado para recompensar todavía más sus esfuerzos.

Desde mi llegada a la Fundación, he tenido la gran fortuna de trabajar con voluntarios entre los empleados de Grupo AGF. Son ellos quienes toman la iniciativa de organizar las colectas de fondos según sus intereses: parrilladas, días o almuerzos temáticos, torneos de ping-pong, recaudaciones de ropa y alimentos, combates deportivos, exposiciones de automóviles etc. Los organismos apoyados son de naturaleza variada, pero en su mayoría, nuestra gente busca causas socio-humanitarias.

Al realizar el balance anual (nuestro año se termina el 31 de marzo), me sorprendió hacer el recuento de todas las actividades del año pasado. Se organizaron 83 diferentes actividades: ¡un récord! Fueron veinte más que el año pasado.

Además del sentimiento de orgullo que me causó esta constatación, también veo la prueba de que la Fundación responde bien a una necesidad de unirse para hacer una diferencia. Felicidades a todos los embajadores, que saben movilizar a sus compañeros y hacen un buen uso de su creatividad. Y gracias a todos los que participan y se interesan en la Fundación.
