A few months ago, the AGF Group Foundation launched “The Generous Gift” initiative, a campaign to donate $100,000 in surplus accumulated in the past years to charities selected by AGF employees across Canada.
Our employees had several weeks to nominate charities they wanted to support by submitting funding requests ranging from $3,000 to $10,000 to help these organizations’ projects. After receiving the many applications (around 50!), our selection committee had the difficult task of making a choice.
Here are the organizations chosen to benefit from this “generous gift” initiative, and their mission:
- Food for Kids – Waterloo Region: Fights childhood hunger by providing nutritious meals.
- Calgary Association for the Development of Music Education (CADME): Promotes access to music education for young people.
- BALANCE for Blind Adults: Provides essential services to adults who are visually impaired or blind.
- Opération Père-Noël: Grants the wishes of children living in precarious conditions.
- CERVO Foundation: Supports research into mental and neurological illnesses.
- Centre Ressources Jardin de familles: Offers resources and support to families in difficulty.
- SLA Québec: Supports people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and their families.
- Association Générale des Insuffisants Rénaux: Improves the quality of life of people suffering from kidney disease.
- Association de Fibromyalgie Région de Québec: Supports people with fibromyalgia and raises awareness of the disease.
- Vie Autonome: Promotes independence for people with physical limitations.
- Wood’s Homes: Offers shelter and mental health services to troubled youth.
- BC Children’s Hospital Foundation: Supports pediatric care and research in British Columbia.
- Alzheimer Society of BC: Supports people affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
- Souls Harbour Rescue Mission: Provides food assistance and services to the homeless.
- Shelter Nova Scotia: Supports people who are homeless and in transition to stable living.
The past few weeks have been marked by the presentation of symbolic certificates to organizations. We’re delighted to share these touching moments with you.

Beyond the donated amounts, this initiative reaffirms AGF Group Foundation’s core values: altruism, commitment, team spirit and ethics.
A huge thank you to all those who took part in this wonderful adventure!
