At the end of January, we had the great opportunity to be visited in Chile and Peru by Serge and Catherine Gendron.
The visit to Santiago de Chile coincided with the start of works on Line 7 of the Metro of Santiago, in which AGF was chosen by China Railway for the supply and pre-assembly of 6,500 MT of rebar in our facility, for the segments used by the TBM in the construction process of the tunnel and the foundations slab in 7 stations.

At the same time, AGF Aceros de Chile was award by the Spanish Contractor Sacyr for the supply and installation of rebar in the project Ruta 66 highway, and Ferrovial (owner of the 407 in Toronto) has given us the opportunity of collaborating with them in the new headquarters of Banco Santander in Santiago de Chile which is called to be an iconic construction in the downtown of the city.
After the concentrated visit to supervise the development of our operations in Chile, Serge and Catherine Gendron accompanied me to Lima (Peru) to check on the progress of work on line 2 of the Lima metro, which is now 55% complete.

We want to send from Canada a warm thanks to all the AGF Chile and AGF Peru team for the commitment and professionalism with which they are carrying out the development of our activity in South America, and remember by this means in memory of Ismael Pires, who was general manager of installation in AGF Peru, and who died recently due to an illness that was not able to take away at any time his dedication and love for his work. A finales de enero tuvimos la gran oportunidad de ser visitados en Chile y Perú por Serge y Catherine Gendron.
La visita a Santiago de Chile coincidió con el inicio de las obras de la Línea 7 del Metro de Santiago, en la que AGF fue elegida por China Railway para el suministro y prearmado de 6.500 Tm de barras corrugadas en nuestras instalaciones, para las dovelas utilizadas por la tuneladora en el proceso constructivo del túnel y la losa de cimentación en 7 estaciones.

Paralelamente, AGF Aceros de Chile fue adjudicataria por la empresa española Sacyr para el suministro e instalación del acero de refuerzo en el proyecto de la autopista Ruta 66, y la constructora Española Ferrovial (propietaria de la 407 en Toronto) nos ha dado la oportunidad de colaborar con ellos en la nueva sede del Banco Santander en Santiago de Chile que está llamada a ser una construcción icónica en el centro de la ciudad.
Después de la visita concentrada para supervisar el desarrollo de nuestras operaciones en Chile, Serge y Catherine Gendron me acompañaron a Lima (Perú) para comprobar el avance de las obras de la línea 2 del metro de Lima, que ya están avanzadas en un 55%.

Queremos enviar desde AGF Canadá un caluroso agradecimiento a todo el equipo AGF Chile y AGF Perú por el compromiso y profesionalidad con el que están llevando a cabo el desarrollo de nuestra actividad en Sudamérica y recordar por este medio en memoria a Ismael Pires, que fué encargado general de instalación en AGF Perú y que falleció recientemente por una enfermedad que no fue capaz de arrebatarle en ningún momento su entrega y amor por su trabajo. Descanse en Paz.
